I live in the province of Saskatchewan in Canada and my area code is 306. My iPhone lists recent 306 calls both incoming and outgoing as ‘United States’ under the number. Why or how has this occurred and how do I fix it, as area code 306 is actually in Canada.

Like I have said all along it was an IOS issue and we just needed to be patient and wait for the fix to be included in an IOS update.
It's likely a spoofed number, meaning it looks like a local call, but it's not. Spoofing in simple terms just means that the number shown on someone’s caller ID is not the actual number that is placing the call.
For outgoing phone calls you type in the number and the phone puts ‘United States’ under it. For incoming calls the provider gives the number and the phone again displays ‘United States’ under it. Outgoing info is provided by you, not cell towers. If the number incoming or outgoing is in your contact list the phone then changes the number to a name and shows mobile, home, or work under it. For toll free numbers the phone displays ‘unknown.’ The phone is definitely involved in this process with inaccurate results. It also showed up after an iOS update when previously it was fine. I find it hard to believe the phone company would affect many thousands of customers negatively and not fix it right away or at the very least acknowledge it, as customer service brings in their income. On the other hand you buy an Apple phone once and then Apple no longer gets any money from you - iOS updates are then at your own risk.
It’s not any thing to do with the size of the market but more likely the way IOS updates pass through the various stages of programming, initial testing, beta testing and finally deployment and release to actual users.
Apple would have a different version in each phase at any one time. Hopefully the update with the fix is somewhere in the mix. All we can do is hope and be patient. Sadly the problem is not big enough to trigger an emergency release, those are only for serious security issues.
Definitely an IOS update issue. I have an iPhone 7 which has not been updated and 306 calls display correctly as Regina, Saskatchewan.
This is an IOS update issue. Apple are aware of it.
Issue has been reported to Apple. Hopefully a fix in a future IOS update.
That’s a good point, but I am about 100 miles North of the Montana and North Dakota border. Last year I was at the west coast and my phone connected to a tower in Washington state when I never crossed the border.
I called my local pharmacy and had the same '306' problem. Since I called them (and they are a legitimate business) I don't think reporting the problem as 'phishing' is the correct thing to do... I'm not sure that the original poster was being understood correctly, either.

Misunderstood or not, I'm not saying it's a phishing scam. Just because the email address (reportphishing@apple.com) contains the word "phishing", doesn't necessarily mean you have to report it as phishing. But, take a screenshot of it, and include in the reply something to the affect:
i.e. of What to Say:
"To whom it may concern: I am having troubles with my cell service usage on my iPhone. It seems that I am not getting signals from where I should. I have attached a screenshot of this so you may look into it. Also, I have reported this to Apple though use of the Feedback Site. Thank you kindly, [your name]".
And that would be is all there is to it.

I have had a lengthy conversation with Apple Support. Since I have a technical background was able to give them the information they needed to get this escalated to their IOS Engineering department. They have direct contact with the IOS developers. Hopefully this gets fixed with next IOS update.
Good. I still don't believe Apple can do anything to fix this as again, phone calls come from your cellular carriers network. I'm completely convinced they will have to do some programming on their end. But it's good you let Apple know anyway.
I am having the same issue - I reside in Saskatchewan (306 area code) and Iphone 7 is showing incoming and outgoing calls as belonging to the United States, rather than within Canada. My husband is having the same problem. Both of us have installed the latest update but the issue still persists as of May 27, 2020.
Please resolve this issue as soon as possible.
Sorry, but this problem isn’t with only one cell provider or providers who are using the same towers. I am a Telus user and I am having the same problem as those who are using Sasktel. Different providers and different towers used.
Are you saying Telus towers located in Alberta or a Telus phone roaming in Saskatchewan on the SaskTel network? Telus does not have towers in Saskatchewan but use the SaskTel network same as Bell and other non-Rogers affiliates.
