Beats Studio 3 Cracking

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has had issues with these headphones? I have the studio 3 (skyline collection I believe) and I barely use these things and they do not leave the case on my desk. I've already had a replacement, but I now see that my new pair is breaking as well. It's in the area right above the ear cup, the plastic just beneath the expandable band part is cracking. I mean, I have a big head, but I cannot believe this build quality. Anyone else experienced this?

I have the exact same issue. I also have a big head (I wear a 7 1/2 hat size, big but not enormous) and both sides of the headphones cracked in the exact same spots after having the headphones since December 2019. I sent them in for repair under the limited warranty and was denied. They asked for $199 USD for the repair cost since this was "customer abuse" even though the damage came from simple widening the headphones to put them on. I told them that many others online reported experiencing this exact issue and this is a design flaw, but they said unless Apple comes forward and starts accepting repairs for this particular reason then they would not cover this under the limited warranty.

I'm extremely disappointed that such an expensive product would break down physically as a result of its intended use so quickly. Currently looking for somewhere where I can submit product feedback about Beats. Hopefully Apple recognizes that they are selling a very faulty product.

If the hinge is not broken, you can easily buy the part in Amazon for about $10.00 and repair them yourself. Problem is when the hinge breaks, then you need to fiddle with folding points and the board to be able to replace the hinges. I am with you this should not happen on $300 headphones and even less this often. This is really a design flaw and Apple and Beats should have take care of this long time ago.

Not much worry of voiding the warranty when Apple refuses to recognize the manufacture and material defects in these headphones. It doesn't seem to matter if they have warranty remaining or not. The Beats Studio 3s are not holding up and this should be addressed. Apple also continues to intentionally ignore this thread, both ignorant practices.

I've been looking at these Jabra Elite 85h headphones: https://www.jabra.ca/bluetooth-headsets/jabra-elite-85h##100-99030000-02 They seem to get good reviews: https://www.soundguys.com/jabra-elite-85h-review-23477/ and as a bonus they do not consistently fall-the-****-apart. Strange that build quality would be an asset to an expensive pair of noise-cancelling headphones.

Wow!!! I’m having the same exact issue. In my personal assignment I’ve come to the conclusion that folding the headphones is what’s causing the issues with the cracking. Maybe they need a new design. It’s really sad because I was hoping to have these for years to come. They’re really expensive headphones & they honestly should last longer than a couple years. Hopefully Apple can fix this issue.

Hi again,

My beats studio 3 are cracking above ear quite bad and out of warranty. Have chatted online and they were called 'accidental damage' when they aren't. Anyone have any idea what to do? I have commented a few times, but apple took them down. So I am here now. Any suggestions welcome. also going to try this and hope it stays, but you all should look up and support on the change website. Hope you can understand what I mean, and hope this stays up here!! Thanks.

I am absolutely appalled at the thought that I must pay $200 to repair my cracked Beats Studio 3 headphones. By no fault of my own my headphones began to crack below the ear pads along the inside. I’ve only owned the **** things for 5 months!!! Clearly this is a case of manufactures defect, specifically a patent defect. I’m really hoping that Apple chooses to do the right thing here and recognize that combined complaints regarding this defect clearly demonstrate that they are selling a defective product.

Just wanted to chip in on this thread to say my Beats Studios 3 started cracking with 3 months of buying them. 3 months! Gutted I didn't ring Apple straight away or bring them back. Now they have disintegrated completely on the right side. Wires hanging out and all.

I for one will be opening a case in the small claims court as this is obvious product fault
