Beats Studio 3 Cracking

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has had issues with these headphones? I have the studio 3 (skyline collection I believe) and I barely use these things and they do not leave the case on my desk. I've already had a replacement, but I now see that my new pair is breaking as well. It's in the area right above the ear cup, the plastic just beneath the expandable band part is cracking. I mean, I have a big head, but I cannot believe this build quality. Anyone else experienced this?

I've had this exact same issue, but Apple Engineers have designated it as "accidental damage" and will not repair it unless I pay some ridiculous repair price. Mine are 8 months old so still under warranty, but they have said the accidental damage does not fall under the apple warranty. (I baby these things, so accidental damage is virtually impossible) How did you have the case escalated because I am absolutely intent on taking this further. Thanks!

Every post here is true. Just look at the AirPods Max...those headphones address all the faults of the Beats Studio 3s and only for 750 bucks.

Just wait out all the people you duped to shut-up, take it on the chin, and buy the even more expensive headphones, isn’t it?

Well, it takes time to gain momentum, and that is exactly what is happening. Careful what you sow and ignore Apple, you’ll be reaping it one way or another.

I’ve screen-shot this post so when it’s deleted I can just repost it.

it’s not too late Apple...

Beats owner of second pair. First pair were purchased when Apple did not own and those lasted me for years until about one year ago. Right inner panel cracked and one of the speakers began to fail. Received a new pair for Xmas 2020, realized about 2wks ago the right inner panel cracked after only 6months!! Called to file claim, was given the its not covered under warranty runaround. After reading these I will go to apple store and press this issue. No way a set of high dollar items break so easy after a short time and simple use.

LATENT DEFECT! After several phone calls over three weeks Apple finally did the right thing and agreed to provide a replacement pair. Mind you I only had my first pair for ) months before they began to crack on either side above the ear. Sent my beloved Camo Rose colored pattered beats back for repair and they replaced it with a standard black pair. I assumed they were going to replace with the same model/design so I was a bit upset. Fast forward three weeks later, not wanting to deal with the aggravating phone support process again I decided to keep the black pair. Big mistake! Just two days after receiving my replacement pair they cracked in exactly the same locations. WTF! I wrapped them up in gorilla tape and didn’t even bother contacting Apple again. Don’t waste your money in these ****** headphones.

I use them daily, all the time, and the inner plastic had cracked on both sides. One of the sides has a small outer crack. I love them and they’re comfortable, but yeah, the cracking is bad. I thought I was just bad at taking care of things, turns out the headphones aren’t good in the craftsmanship department. I’m hoping to duct tape them, I really like the things and I’d like to keep on having wireless headphones.

Duct taping works - I fixed two pairs that I thought were beyond repair. I fillled up the cracks with some type of plastic glue and then duct taped over it to keep it in place. They’re usable again now, but look absolutely horrendous. Still happy to have them as a backup option. Also, I’m sure that someone more crafty would be able to do a better job than I did.

Still good enough for me workouts and family use and such, but definitely not for online work meetings in front of clients. For those I got Bose QuietComfort 35 II which can conmect to two devices at once and switch between devices using a switch on the headphones. Once I got the hang of it, it actually switches way faster than with the Beats as it keep the connection to both devices active.

I also tried Sony XM 4 which promises similar functionality but really doesn’t play nice with Apple hardware.

I can post some pics of what my Beats look like now, should someone express interest.

My coworker and I both bought the same pair and both of our headphones cracked in the same location noted in various posts. I took it to Apple yesterday (to get my air pods pro checked, mind you less than a year old and having issues charging) and still, they can repair for $200. Really disappointing as this is a blatant latent defect, I really enjoy the functionality of the Beats (changing songs, pausing, volume) and the sound but it's not worth all this effort to try and fix something I didn't cause.

Same. I have a very large head, and my headphones (studio3) also are my desk headphones and we’ll cared for. However, I’m now on my second pair that is cracking in that exact same spot on the right side. Two identical sets of studio3, two identical cracks that formed after only a dozen or so uses. There is clearly a design flaw in these headphones

Hey Apple! I’m back! Still ignoring this I see. Great job giant you corporate D-bags. Everyone in this thread trusted you to sell them a product that wasn’t defective. We also trusted that if there was an issue that Apple would back it’s product and make things right.

Apple, you really are awful. You are the epitome of power and oppression. My expectations weren’t that high, but you certainly crapped the bed, and continue to.

Chances are you will delete this, however I will screen shot it and repost it, repeatedly.

Good talk. It’s never to late to do the right thing, put your greedy corporate ego away and help your customers.
