Poor iMac camera lighting on 2017

My 2017 iMac is currently located in an area within my home that gets a LOT of full natural light. It seems to be throwing off the FaceTime/Photobooth feature as I always look very dark no matter where I am in the room. I'm not sure if it's just too bright in here or if there's something more going on.

I have checked the camera for dirt/smudges -- nothing there

I have restarted the Mac several times with no luck

I have no third party apps installed that raise an interference question

The OS it up to date as well. (Catalina 10.15.4)

So, I'm quite puzzled. Any help is appreciated!

Is the natural room lighting behind you, shining on your back and the front of the iMac?

If it is, then try moving things around so that there is more light coming from behind the iMac and shining on your face.
