no audio when importing

Does anyone know how I can solve this problem?

the original file is an mp4

this is not the first time this has happened, im new to FCP and somehow every time i try to import a new video the audio in it is either cut short or gone.

i've tried:

• exiting FCP then opening it again
• redownloading the original video
• crtl+opt
• turning "remove silent channel" off
