Does anyone know how I can solve this problem?
the original file is an mp4
this is not the first time this has happened, im new to FCP and somehow every time i try to import a new video the audio in it is either cut short or gone.
i've tried:

MacBook Pro 13", macOS 10.14
Right click a media file in the Finder.
Select Encode Selected Media Files:
Choose ProRes:
Import the ProRes file to FCP X and see if the audio works.
