Unable to make purchases in Pokémon GO

When attempting to purchase Pokécoins in Pokémon Go app, I receive the following error message: “something went wrong. Please try again later.” I have rest my phone, ensured no restrictions are enabled, changed my Pokémon Go password, and turned on/off my WiFi. Still the error message persists.

OMG OMG I turned off Apple Cash and it worked - You were right!!! Except in my case, Apple Pay is still on, but Apple Cash is off.

First, I removed my bank account from Apple Cash, and removed PayPal from the payment methods for iTunes, and only left the Apple Credit card in the wallet and iTunes, and then I shut off Apple Cash.

Then I tried to make a purchase in the PoGo shop and it worked!!

I think the bank account definitely has something to do with it, because today my bank literally SHUT OFF my debit card without even asking me if the $1.00 purchase for the PoGo ticket was fraud. They just shut it off. And I got a push notification on my phone that the debit card was no longer available for making purchases. And the debit card was tied to Apple Cash. OMG this Apple payment system is SO MESSED UP.

BUT IT WORKED!!!

Just wanted to update with something interesting I discovered: I remembered that I setup a Go account for my son a while back using Pokémon Trainer Club. I signed in to his account after it has been unused for 7 months and not only is there a Go Fest 2020 ticket but also a large coin balance that adds up exactly to my glitched purchases. As it turns out, the email address associated with the Pokémon Trainer Club account is the same one I use for my Apple ID and iTunes billing. I reached back out to Niantic to let them know but figured I would post here in case anyone else might have similar circumstances.

same thing happened to me. On second apple ID account, a charge for $20 worth of coins went through, but I didn't get the coins. So here is what I tried:

I set up Apple Cash, put some money in, and am ONLY using that method to pay for coins. Also, I removed the FaceID purchase approval, and switched to manually typing in a password for every purchase, as this was suggested by Apple.

I have no idea if this will help, but I am hoping that by removing as many steps in the purchasing process as possible, the shop purchases might go through. I have no idea about the FaceID vs. manual password entry, other than it might be one less step involving faulty software somewhere along the line.

So far, it is working.

contacting Apple ITunes Store support and asking them to clear pending downloads worked perfect to solve this exact problem as described by another person who posted this fix. I did spend 45 min in chat with Apple support before they finally said they couldn’t do it but would transfer my chat support to iTunes support. It took 15 minutes but they fixed it% you need to reboot your phone before it will work.

Have you purchased a special event ticket? I tried everything people suggested on here, everything Niantic suggested, went to Apple store n let them check everything and nothing. I finally realized I had purchased a special event ticket middle of November - the next day is when I couldn’t purchase anything. I explained the problem to Apple support when my request for refund was denied - I don’t know what they did or did not do but I can buy from the shop again.

I’m going to purchase the upcoming event tickets - but I’m going to purchase them on an Android phone. I’m fortunate a friend had one I can borrow.

I sent Niantic support a detailed message about what I learned through this ordeal. Whether they do anything with the information remains to be seen.

I found a solution to this. I think. I have one iPhone XS that I'm currently using, and my old iPhone 6 just laying around. I had both connected on the same apple id. What I did was I went into my iPhone 6 and logged out of that apple id. I made a new apple id via my browser on my computer. Logged into that apple id, added the same payment method (my mastercard bank card) that I have on my other apple id on my iPhone XS. Logged into my Pokemon Go account on my iPhone 6 and it worked buying coins.

This tells me that it's either a problem connected to my main phone (iPhone XS) somehow, even though it worked perfectly to add coins several times per day just a week before. Or it's a problem connected to the apple id. I tried all your stuff here, adding and removing payment methods and apple pay and whatnot, but nothing helped.
