Unable to make purchases in Pokémon GO

When attempting to purchase Pokécoins in Pokémon Go app, I receive the following error message: “something went wrong. Please try again later.” I have rest my phone, ensured no restrictions are enabled, changed my Pokémon Go password, and turned on/off my WiFi. Still the error message persists.

OMG OMG I turned off Apple Cash and it worked - You were right!!! Except in my case, Apple Pay is still on, but Apple Cash is off.

First, I removed my bank account from Apple Cash, and removed PayPal from the payment methods for iTunes, and only left the Apple Credit card in the wallet and iTunes, and then I shut off Apple Cash.

Then I tried to make a purchase in the PoGo shop and it worked!!

I think the bank account definitely has something to do with it, because today my bank literally SHUT OFF my debit card without even asking me if the $1.00 purchase for the PoGo ticket was fraud. They just shut it off. And I got a push notification on my phone that the debit card was no longer available for making purchases. And the debit card was tied to Apple Cash. OMG this Apple payment system is SO MESSED UP.

BUT IT WORKED!!!

Same issue with the new $0.99 event ticket. Placed purchase and no confirmation at all. Tried a few more times and the same error code 3 kept popping up. Based on email chain above i looked into purchases and i have been billed three times (pending) for this purchase and nothing shows up. Apple support has been more and more difficult to deal with. I have had no success with Niantic either. I am not switching three family phones to Samsung to resolve the issue, that is ludicrous. Maybe Samsung bought Niantic. Who knows. I will wait for an update that hopefully arrives before the event date and see what happens. These tragic failures make me want to quit.

Yup.. I'm having the same issue with $0.99 ticket. I was able to purchase on other family member pogo accounts but not mine. I keep getting a blank screen when I click on the event ticket. And the one time I clicked and it wasn't blank, and I hit purchase and it looked like it went through, I got the "something went wrong" message and now get the blank screen again. VERY frustrating! I've tried switching my id onto other devices and nothing is working.

This is highly unprofessional on Ninantics behalf!

My partner and myself are both 2016 users, our daughter 2017 user, we gave Pokemon a break for a few months only to return to this mess.

The 3 of us has always used the 1 Apple ID for Pokemon Go, never encountered an issue.

The fact that Ninantic use the excuse “ use a compatible phone “ is highly unprofessional and SHOULD BE considered a scam, as they are NOT providing any legitimate intel to a fix/solution for IOS users.

If IOS users are able to download PoGo from the Apple store then our devices are 100% compatible?

No warning messages on the App Store about “ compatible phones “ etc

The fact some IOS users are still encountering this issue since April 2020 is astonishing!

I don’t understand why they decide to refund some of people but not others. I requested it the same way you did and for the same exact reasons but was told I don’t qualify for a refund. Like wtf, how do I not qualify!? I was charged twice for the ticket and never received it and the only way I was able to actually get it was cuz I did what Niantic support suggested and signed in on a separate device that had a different Apple ID account on it. So basically in total I paid four times for this **** ticket, once for my alt and 3 times for my main but both Niantic and Apple have basically told me to go pound sand. I am absolutely furious by this!! I mean it, once my two-year contract is up for this phone; I’ll be switching over to Samsung, eff Apple!!

I’ve been in the same situation since April, using iPhone 8 Plus. My shop stopped working completely, so eventually I started using my gf’s phone in order to spend coins. Then, her phone got the same shop bug. This means I’ve missed out on community day bundles, remote raid bundles, a lot of the 1 coin bundles, and now even daily free boxes.

My 8+ had been starting to get pretty beat up, and slowing down a bit performance-wise, so I pulled the trigger on a brand new 11 Pro Max. It came in yesterday. To my delight, I pulled up PoGo and was able to use up hundreds of coins from gyms, that had been just piling up. Sweet relief!! To celebrate, I decided to buy $20 of coins and load up for some remote raid action. I see the coins added to the top right, but the green pokeball keeps spinning....it can’t be, right? Don’t do this to me!! Yep, got my 2500 coins, but now my shop is busted AGAIN, on a brand NEW phone, right after it was working fine and I was thrilled lol. So disappointing.

TLDR— same issue since April, got new iPhone for unrelated reasons, shop let me spend coins but broke again completely when purchasing more.

HI there

I am having the same issue like everyone else. I have two accounts...my main one and one for my child. My child’s account got the error first on Friday after I tried to purchase the Community Day Gastly Special Research. Since then we can’t purchase anything and it is the (3) error code. As of this morning, my main account is doing it now. My husband’s is not. can you kinda walk me through how you changed from the Apple Cash to PayPal in your Manage payments area in settings? Trying to get this fixed before go Fest happens. I have my tickets for that because I was able to buy them at the end of June and didn’t have the problem then. Please I need all the help I can get. I have been emailing back and forth with Niantic support but they are no help and I get a response every 24 hours. Tired of dealing with the lack of support.

thank you

I hope others see these posts like this and become successful like we have become with getting our software corrected. I have written to Niantic support as well over the past week and their responses once every 24 hours is that they are working on the issue. Maybe they need to start reading these forums to have their users show them how they got this error fixed since they seem to be clueless as the moment.

I am also having this issue. I purchased the Gastly event ticket on 4 devices, for my family, all using my Apple ID. I was charged 5 times. I attempted two coin purchases and the charge went through but I didn't receive the coins. My refund request was denied and Niantic has closed my ticket multiple times without replying to me. Apple is saying its a developer issue and they cannot help me, yet many others in this thread were fine after Apple refunded the purchases. I even provided the link to this thread. I was told it's not an Apple issue and that providing a refund would not fix my problem. Super frustrated and have made no progress in fixing my account.

Follow up to my post of a few hours ago. I called Goldman-Sachs, they kicked me to Apple/iTunes who said they did not even have the ability to reverse the charge if they wanted to. Agent had never seen that before and had to call in a supervisor. Eventually kicked me back to Goldman-Sachs. The agent there also could not reverse the charge, had never seen anything like this, and also consulted with a supervisor. Something very strange is going on with this particular Niantic/Apple type of purchase. Not sure why this is different.

The Goldman-Sachs supervisor was finally able to push through the credit which I received right away, initially a temporary credit and finally a final resolution in my favor.

I haven't tried a new purchase to see if the Pogo shop is working or not - I suppose I should make a .99 purchase to see what happens.
