Which screen protector is advised for iPhone SE (edges an issue)

Hi,

I recently bought an iPhone 8 screen protector from Unreakcable, which fits the new SE, although I appreciate (as described) it doesnt fully cover the screen - thats not the issue.

The issue is that all around the edges of the protector is what looks like air trapped - it almost forms a uniform border - it wont push out.

I guess what I'm asking is what protector would you recommend for the new SE that fits as well as possible and doesnt have any issues with the border not sealing cleanly.

I am using a Spigen ultra hybrid case for the SE.

Thanks for any input

I have just had success with a MediaDevil Magicscreen Ultra Tough glass free protector. It’s the iPhone 7 and 8 version, now labelled as SE 2020 as well, but because it’s more flexible than the tempered glass ones (which they also produce but I haven’t tried) it copes with the curves.

It is a very very very precise fit so you do need to be central to avoid the lifted edges. My first attempt was a little low based on the camera and speaker grill, so there was a small unadhered section at the very bottom. I lifted and adjusted the protector and all is well.

I can’t see a rigid item ever working on this screen easily, unless some SE’s were produced differently. This flexible one is just wide enough to cover the lit screen, and just copes with the curve.

I have had some correspondence with MediaDevil (after I’d already ordered) about this issue, and I must say, they seem a great company who genuinely want the best for their customer.

I am more than happy to leave this protector on my phone and just start using it properly, regardless of what the other brands manage to do, and would replace with the same if I ever needed to.

Hi Just to advise we to are having this problem, now having fitted the fourth protector from differing manufacturers, not only wasting money but time as well in attempting the impossible as to get the screen protector to affix most fully to the phones surface, I am beginning to consider that the phone design is in fact at fault, as if the screen protector to be fully affixed the protector need to be some 3mm less in the width to both side and an equal margin to the top and bottom, I do consider that this is clearly a design or manufacturing defect.

Here's what I've tried this week:

  • Zagg Glass Elite+. It *mostly* worked, however I had dust/dog fur trapped along the edge so I removed the screen protector (and ruined it in the process). Then...
  • I found a Belkin ScreenForce TemperedGlass screen protector. This had the halo. I spoke to Belkin who provided a refund (it's now out of stock). Then...
  • I got a Maxboost screen protector (came recommended from Wirecutter). Both screen protectors (came in a 2-pack) had the halo. They specifically mentioned this issue on some documentation in the box, so I've reached out to their support team for a "1 in every 10,000" special screen protector. I'm still going back and forth with them.
