I had the same issue with my new iPhone SE 2020. Battery was incredibly disappointing for what I’ve known from my Apple products. I could see the battery percentage ticking down just reading articles (as some others described “a percentage point every 2 min” or so). Like others on here, I did the typical battery saving tips. Biggest clue for me was the first day I took it to work. I don’t have time to look at my phone at work except during my lunch. By the time I got home after 11hrs, I only had 20% battery life. Battery usage indicator told me that Apple Music was responsible for 87% of my battery usage. However, I had only looked at app for abt 3 mins during initial set up of my phone— never actually used it. The rest was background activity (even tho I turned off background app refresh for all apps). As a result of this finding, I uninstalled the Apple Music app. This DRASTICALLY improved my battery life. Next 11hr work day, my phone had only dropped to 78% with light browsing at lunch and a few txts. I used it to browse some social media/watch a few videos at home, but decided to keep off charger overnight. I’m writing up this comment right now with the phone having been off the charger for over 26hrs and I still have 34% battery life. This is much more inline with what I expected given how much i leave it in idle. Wondering if anyone else has the same issue with the Apple Music app possibly going rogue... uninstalling it helped me tremendously.

“Apple said they won’t give refund when it is showing as no issues on their side.” Ok. That’s a bummer, sorry to hear that.

try charging your phone at regular intervals as you need it. The idea is, not below 40% and not up to 100% every charge. Switch battery optimiser on in settings. I’m charging up to 80% in the afternoon for my needs and then leaving it till morning when I’ll charge into the 90% range. I now switch off the phone at night. I used to charge over night to 100%. I’ve no idea if what I’m doing is helping but that seems to be a general work through regarding battery. I’m sure others will have different ideas too. I also have the feeling the last iOS update contained tweaks for this issue though I can’t confirm that. Only by reading about it in update notes. So be sure to update to. I also switch off any background apps and uninstall any I don’t use. Facetime killed the battery when I first got it, 1% every 1-2 minutes and I could have cooked a burger on the phone it was that hot - I’m not joking. So Facetime has gone for video calls, for now.

as I’ve said before somewhere, I really like the SE having come from Android and I hope I never go back. iOS feels more intuitive to me and that’s one reason I stuck with it. Post back with questions or progress, I’d like to hear how you get on. Cheers.

Apparently the last iOS update had battery drain issues. I read an article about it on some tech page on the internet. It’s a known issue and is being worked on. Your phone call battery drain was the same for me too. I bought the SE not long after it came out. I too, came from Android and I’m not going back to their bargain bin junk. I like this phone very much but it did have terrible battery drain issues from new - many of which seem a lot better now. I suggest you contact support and ask for their advice regarding this problem. Some people have had excellent support some not. I did get very good support from the outset and because of that and the fact that these battery issues are being looked into and dealt with suggest Apple are taking it seriously. I have to stress, my battery issues are so much better - they are not perfect though. So hopefully this will improve over time. The way you charge your phone is important too. Try and stick to regular times to charge. Maybe not leaving to charge overnight for example. I’m down to one charge a day coming from two - though I’m not a heavy user. If you are the battery issue might still be a challenge.

No they haven’t admitted there’s an issue specifically. She acknowledged that it’s not right that it’s behaving the way it is, but no acknowledgement of “oh yeah we’ve been getting a lot of these. This is the issue...”. The wipe and fresh reinstall of the latest OS seems to be helping. It’s still not performing like other phones would, but I guess that’s to be expected since it’s a smaller battery. I put it in low power mode last night before bed and woke up and it was still 100%. I’ve been using it for almost 2 hours and it’s at 94%.

Been having same problem - Ive just turned off all the Siri’s, deleted like 8 or 10 apps I’m not going to use including face time replaced by Watsapp - Turned off all the tracking gizmo’s like locations and find me - (There are certain apps which can’t be deleted, but are shelved) The phone is updated to 14. Wot ever it is and I have it on battery saving mode = 3 hours into today and I’m still on 100%

i have the new se 2020. all i can add is that the battery loses first 10% real quick regardless of what im doing which isn't much. it sits in my pocket while im out walking during lockdown. from 100% to 93% just idling. with a little use with an app like OneNote and a phone call or two of no more than a few minutes i'm into the late 80's% wise. first time i used facetime phone got real hot and had to stop using it. battery down to low 80's and late 70's % wise. i use Signal app now for video call. i plug in the phone to charge whilst talking. phone becomes warm, which i feel is normal'ish. Apple are in contact with me over this battery/heat issue with my 'new' phone and will be talking to them later today. i get the feeling the battery is under powered - or, a tweak is needed in an update. but battery use is not good for iPhone SE 2020. shame. ive just moved from android and love the iPhone setup. hopefully a fix will come soon. cheers drew.

i agree with everything you say regarding battery drain. it will sit at 100% for quite a while if not used. but once i start to use it 'normally' not heavy loading, that first 10% from 100 down to 90 is gone real quick - light surfing then some work on OneNote. im not a heavy user really. i chose to uninstall facetime because it got so incredibly hot the first time i used that app and did not want to be tempted to use it again. so i use the Signal app for video calling, which is essential during current virus climate. but i have to put the phone on charge because it runs down so quickly, but it doesn't get too warm using Signal which is a relief. i worked out its about 1% every 1.5/ 2 minutes. i love the phone by the way. i dont have an issue with the phone itself. but as ive said somewhere else today, i think the battery is a fail at the moment. if it cant be fixed with an update then i think the battery will be as good as dead in 2 years - or thereabouts. it can not sustain such loses and remain healthy for too long. i have the same phone as you by the way. thanks for posting. cheers, drew. 40% overnight! That’s very serious indeed. Mine is on charge overnight as per iPhone instructions. Things have calmed down a bit for me regarding battery drain. Though I have uninstalled Facetime because of the phone heating and battery drain. Siri appears to use quite a bit in background apps so I switched her access off to those. I love the phone having come from android. But however this is cut, the battery for the SE 2020 is underpowered. If you continue to drain at 40% overnight I’d send it back while you can after you’ve contacted customer support.

I bought a new Iphone SE2020 3 weeks ago and tested the battery status during the idle time. The battery drained approx 1% per hour under all power saving options including: lower power mode on, no icloud link, mail manual fetch, no background app, dark screen, etc. Since I have another android phone, I didn't use the Iphone at all during the testing time. I wonder if my Iphone SE battery is still all right if the battery drains during the idle time as follows:

TIME DAY BATTERY %

=== ==== ======

06:00 29May: 99% measurement begins

07:00 30May: 80% indicating 19% used for 25 hours (=0.76% / hour)

14:00 30May: 70% indicating 10% used for 7 hours (=1.43% / hour)

20:00 30May: 63% indicating 7% used for 6 hours (=1.17% / hour)

07:00 31May: 50% indicating 13% used for 11 hours overnight (=1.18% / hour)

07:00 01Jun: 20% indicating 30% used for 24 hours (=1.25% / hour)

17:00 01Jun: 9% indicating 11% used for 10 hours (=1.10% / hour)

Total Testing Duration: 83 hours

Total Battery Drained: 90%

Net Batter Drainage: 1.08 % per hour

I contacted the Apple Service (online chat) and the technician said that it was better than normal to get the batter drained 1% per hour.
