I had the same issue with my new iPhone SE 2020. Battery was incredibly disappointing for what I’ve known from my Apple products. I could see the battery percentage ticking down just reading articles (as some others described “a percentage point every 2 min” or so). Like others on here, I did the typical battery saving tips. Biggest clue for me was the first day I took it to work. I don’t have time to look at my phone at work except during my lunch. By the time I got home after 11hrs, I only had 20% battery life. Battery usage indicator told me that Apple Music was responsible for 87% of my battery usage. However, I had only looked at app for abt 3 mins during initial set up of my phone— never actually used it. The rest was background activity (even tho I turned off background app refresh for all apps). As a result of this finding, I uninstalled the Apple Music app. This DRASTICALLY improved my battery life. Next 11hr work day, my phone had only dropped to 78% with light browsing at lunch and a few txts. I used it to browse some social media/watch a few videos at home, but decided to keep off charger overnight. I’m writing up this comment right now with the phone having been off the charger for over 26hrs and I still have 34% battery life. This is much more inline with what I expected given how much i leave it in idle. Wondering if anyone else has the same issue with the Apple Music app possibly going rogue... uninstalling it helped me tremendously.

I switch my phone off at night. Period. I don’t need it on while I’m asleep. My SE is over a year old now and battery health is still 100%.

it is not necessary to leave it charging overnight. And from a couple of tech guys they said it somewhat damaging to keep it pushing at 100% overnight. They also said don’t drop below 40% and it isn’t necessary to charge over 80% all the time. My phone charges pretty quickly in one hour: that’s one whole hour to go from 40 to nearly 80%. Stop stressing. Take it easy.

This has to be related to the recent 'update'.

My 2 year old SE is a fall-back option phone for voice calls only and it has been fine since I bought it and normally would run all day and most of the next day has just started dropping to 45% over an hour or so, then when I turn off/on again it goes back to 75%, then back to 95% when I turn it off/on again. It's not the battery - I had that checked. It's teh update doing something wierd.

DO NOT GET THE SE IF BATTERY LIFE IS A CONCERN FOR YOU.

I loved the smaller form factor, and the easy of access of TouchID in the times of COVID. I had such a miserable experience with the battery timing, and the battery life that I had to have it replaced.

And, again, so bad of an experience, that I didn't get a 12 Mini and went for a Pro, despite not liking the size, at all.

Mine does the same thing, went to the Apple store last week, they went through the whole phone, no improvement! They have no real answers other than normal operation! They know the batteries are weak, my old iPhone 6 had a better battery. They looked at me shocked when I wanted to show them the top 20 phones with the best battery life on the Internet and not one Apple phone made any of the lists! Hate to do it but I start back to work next week and the SE Will be completely useless within an hour once I return to work, probably going to have to get a Samsung galaxy.
