Wrong Country Caller ID

I live in Saskatchewan Canada - area code 306. I just upgraded to the new iPhone SE. I have the latest available IOS. Calls to my phone (which are not in my contacts) show the phone number (indicating it is long distance with the +1) as originating from the United States. The call is not long distance and it originated from the same town. My old phone would show where call was actually from - frustrating. Help.

even if that was so (would mean carrier changed way in last couple of days) I actually know the people who have called - it was both from a landline and a cell - they live down the street from me - no where near United States. Thankyou for your responses- I appreciate you trying to help

Canada uses country code 1.

Along with the United States, and twenty-some other countries and territories.

You are seeing the full telephone number for a Canadian telephone number.

Click the following blue text for the list of countries and territories that all share country code 1:

Your carrier is the source of the caller ID information; of the 11-digit number and whatever additional location-related information might be provided to your iPhone along with the Caller ID. Your carrier provides that information to your iPhone. Put differently, if the local folks are showing up with the correct telephone number and the wrong location, check with your cellular carrier.

+1 does not indicate long distance, it’s the Caller ID is provided by your carrier.

You’re now getting an 11 digit caller ID.

All of mine have been arriving that way for a while now.

Even the spammers spoofing the same telephone exchange present as 11 digits.

Reset your network settings, and failing that then check with your carrier.

But pragmatically, you’re getting an 11 digit caller ID as that’s how your carrier has chosen to present the ID.
