Problems with Google Slides on iPad

My kids are using an iPad with a Brydge keyboard attached for distance learning. They can't use the Google Slides app to complete assignments because when they try to add text, every time the space bar is hit, the cursor jumps out of the window. There is no way to type a sentence without a space bar.....

We have also experienced a quirk in the Google Classroom on iPad. I have twins, so most of their assignments are the same. On Google Forms, if one completes her assignment on the iPad, then the other's shows as completed as well. We bypass this by opening the form on my MacBook Air and we can open a new form.
