Volume of airpods turning up itself

I have my airpods connected to my iPhone 11 and I was listening to music on Spotify at an average level. I went on Snapchat and when I clicked on a story to view it the volume of my airpods jumped up to almost full blast. I turned the volume down and then the same thing happened when I took a picture using Snapchat the volume jumped up again. I don’t think it’s an issue with the airpods as it has also happened when I’ve been connected to my smart speaker. Any ideas how to fix it???

iPhone 11, iOS 13

Hi blaithin19,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. You've come to the right place! I see you are having an intermittent issue where the volume drastically changes from app to app. And this issue occurs with multiple bluetooth devices. Have you tried deleting and then installing Snapchat and Spotify? That would be a great place to start.

You can also try the following steps:

  1. Verify that your iPhone is up to date.
  2. Unpair the AirPods and the smart speaker from the device. You can do so by tapping Settings>Bluetooth>tap the i next to the name of the device, then tap Forget Device.
  3. Restart your iPhone
  4. Pair the bluetooth devices again, test
  5. Check and adjust the volume limit that is set on your iPhone. Adjust the volume on iPhone

I hope this helps!

Cheers!
