having issues with my computer having kernel panics (about once every hour)


*i have tried running a Python script in the background to prevent the CPU from dropping too low where the computer shuts down but this seems to be a new issue.


using MacOS High Sierra (10.13.6) on a MacBook Pro Retina 15-in (2014)

Completely uninstall Symantec, then

Remove all entries from Users&Groups->LoginItems (with the minus sign underneath).

Then restart.

Whenever you use an app and have done, quit the app.

That should clear up a lot.

Then there are certainly some apps, that you do not use or need anymore: uninstall them.

you could free up some space on the SSD to "less wear it".

Since a recent mac update, Norton has been panic'ing macOS systems left and right.


Uninstall Norton. Do not replace it.

If you must have a placebo that makes you feel better, then run the free version of MalwareBytes. It has at least proven itself to be useful to the Mac community. And as you have to be involved to install malware or adware on the Mac, then ONLY run Malware bytes AFTER installing something. Running it 24/7 is a waste of electricity.
