Documents in pages app cannot be opened

The documents stored in the pages app (all formats including pdf, jpg etc) are unable to be opened.

The icon with the file name is showing in such a way that it is inactive and cannot be opened, deleted, moved, copied etc. This problem exist for all the files located in ipad, icloud, google drive etc.
