At least you proved 13.5 was not the problem. Something on your phone is.
The next step would be to restore your device, and setup the device without restoring a backup, to see if the issue is replicated. I would first make sure you have a backup so your data is saved.
Here is a guide for those steps:
How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings and see how it goes
If no improvement arrange for repair or replace
If it works well restore from backup but be prepared to wipe again without restore from backup.
I fully charged my 6s, in 20 min it went to %80 with only 3 phone call for 3 minutes and 1 video on FB for 1 minute... From 14:00 till 18:00 it down to %60 with a few FB and Insta check. No call, no video, nothing. Now 18:21 and it is at %47...
My battery renewed 6, 7 months ago and all problems Exactly started after 13.5.1 Update...
my phone checked by Turkish Apple and they said there is a software problem. And USA Apple said there is a hardware problem... I am using my phone in last 2,5 years without any problem even There is not any scratch on it... Nobody can downgrade my phone old software... So Apple Cheated me and they are preparing my 6s for problems to slow it down... Apple thinks that I will buy an Iphone again, No! Never... I am using Apple systems since 2004 in last 16 years... And I see that how they can kill my Shiny Iphone pocket computer Just with an update. I totally lost my trust to brand...
In mid June, I was experiencing this same problem with my iphone 8s, going from full battery (or 94%) to zero, and the phone shutting down. I'd have to plug the phone in again, turn it back on, and it would come back up to full battery immediately. After reading several different posts on this site, and trying almost every suggestion with no success, I called Apple Support. Within 5 minutes, the tech I spoke with did a diagnostic on my phone and told me my battery was toast, and needed replacing. I took it in and had the battery replaced for $40.00. Not sure if it had anything at all to do with the 13.5 ios upgrade.
What I'm saying is, stop stressing yourselves out and call Apple Support. Sure helped my stress level.
Apple stores are open in many countries. Your profile does not tell me where you live so I cannot help you further

You refer back to my post that my 6S and 7 are absolutely fine with the 13.5 and 13.6 and therefore planned obsolescence of older phones through updates is illogical? That is still true.
