Macbook pro 13" (2020) USB c to USB hub get randomly disconnect

I have a USB hub plugged to my Macbook pro.

On this hub I have only a mac keyboard and logitech mouse.

It get disconnected randomly after a few hour of use.

The hub use a AC adapter so problem is not coming from the lack of power...

I have also tried to reset the SMC but nothing changed.

The strange thing is: the hub don't disconnect with my old mac mini (2012) who not using usb-c

I think the plexing between usb-c and usb 2.0 or 3.0 get messed by something.

Probably the USB C interface on the Macbook pro itself...

Please fix it!

I also have the same issue, at first I thought it was my keyboard and mouse problem. But after I checked it at 'about this mac > system report > USB' , the USB C hub did not appear. So I assume that it is either my MacBook Pro 2020 13" problem or my USB C hub problem. Since you all also have the same issue, so I don't think it is the USB C hub issue then.

What connectors are you using? I have a usb-c -> USB 3.0 and it still is doing the same thing. I really don’t want to order a $200+ TB3 dock if I can avoid it considering g I’ve bought 3 different USB-C hubs and 2 different single adapters with no luck. If this isn’t solved in a few weeks I’m sending this back and building a hackintosh. The hackintosh devs/community fix MacOS bugs faster than the Apple dev team tbh.

Simliar USB-C issues with MacBook Air 2020 10th gen 1.1 ghz i5

Random Disconnects and Ports become inoperable for devices - but charging still works (several reputable hubs tried)

If Air restarted, on restart generates message “your machine shutdown because of a problem”  and USB ports return to operation for devices.

Since upgrading to Catalina 10.15.6 additionally! when plugging in either a USB-C hub or USB-C to 3.0 adaptor "even without any peripheral connected" it can crash and reboot with an error that it recovered from a problem, error report Intel CrashLog recorded due to unexpected reset.

I have been in contact with apple support for two months and have spent many hours on this problem. I spoke to several support engineers and uploaded gigabytes of logs. I have excluded and replaced all peripherals. It was persistently maintained that it could not be the MacBook.

But today I got a call from Apple. They still believe that there may be something wrong with the Macbook or MacOs. They started an internal investigation after several complaints. They hope an update can fix this problem. Apple support will contact me as soon as more is known or when a software update is available.

I understand that this is not an immediate solution, but that they finally admit that there may be an issue sounds somewhat satisfying for now
