iPhone Connecting and Disconnecting When Plugged in to Computer

Every time I plug my iPhone X into my computer, it continuously connects and disconnects. It does this repeatedly and does not connect. It just flashes back and forth between charging and not charging. It is not the chord, because it works when plugged in to an outlet. This only happens when I plug it in to the computer.

I also thought it may be because I needed to update the software on my computer. However, I did this and the problem is still occurring.

Is there any way to fix this so my phone can connect to my computer?
