Several attempts to installing the latest WatchOS 6.2.6 patch (with series 1 iWatch on the charging base). No luck. Each install and verification attempt leads to message: UNABLE TO INSTALL- an error occurred installing the latest version....
any ideas on others ways to get the update to install?

Hi I turned on the wifi on my watch and it worked. I thought that I had this on and while a quick check looked like wifi was on (the wifi symbol was highlighted) I wasn’t actually connected to my wifi, it was just using the wifi off the phone. So this did the trick for me - both phone and watch have to be connected to the same wifi. Hope this helps

My watch (4) does not have a software update option and estimated time for install says 3 days! After 4 hours received error message.

Worked perfect for me first time. Software had already downloaded. Nike Series 2 Apple Watch. Took
about 15 minutes total.
Try this;
I believe if it says ‘download and install’ then the download is not installed on your watch.
to locate if it is downloaded, I opened the watch app on my phone and scrolled to the section labeled “installed on my watch”. It was listed there with the ability to delete.
I can’t install watchOS 6.2.6.
