Will new macbook pro (2020) be significantly faster than current one (2013)?

Hi - I am considering the new Macbook Pro - the 4-port model. I currently have a 2013 MBP with an i5 ship stated at 2.4Ghz. I see the new machine also has a core i5 chip rated at 2.0Ghz. I understand there are other elements to computer speeds these days than Ghz rating of processors, which was something that seemed to mean a lot more 20 years ago.

But I'm just wondering whether there will be a significant improvement in performance or just a modest one. The main time I notice the current computer running slower than I would like is during video editing using Premiere, and also with photos, but mainly with Apple's photo program.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

it depends. may be tech scores give you one idea about the speed vs the previous ones; but they are controlled experiments..

in real life things could be different

my imac 2011- still works very good with new version of logic prox and fcpx (older version)..ok. fcpx 3d title rendering is a problem though.

my mbpro i5 one (2017) - is also ok with both the softwares (newer version of fcpx)...but it gets very hot..so though apple never says that but doing a long video edit with multitracks would be a challenge...

also remember that MBP- at least i5 are not gaming machines..

the issue mainly lies with os and software updates..apple seem to stop the newer updates for somewhat old machines..

these are my personal experiences..not generic
