How to edit Featured Photos on Iphone

I would like to be able to select what photos are on my widgets. I successfully removed featured photos but I can’t add any. I came to see if there is a way that I don’t know but clearly there is not. :/

That’s a nice app, I had it for my watch but I’m glad to know they have a widget one now. I’ve been using the app “Wdgts”, but it only has widgets for the today view currently. With Widgetsmith when you choose an image folder does it cycle the photos?

The photos widget makes no sense. I’d like to be able to choose the photo’s it displays. A few mins back I had to delete a lot of the photos because it started showing a pic of my totaled car... I’d really prefer the widget uses a folder of my choice or perhaps the favorite folder. Or else it makes no sense.

Except that up until recently, the featured photos didn’t really serve much of a purpose. Now they do, and it’s not in a way people want, so it makes more sense to change either how the photo widget functions or how featured photos function. Otherwise, this widget might as well be useless.

I found I could delete from featured and it immediately selected replacement photos. My problem with that is I take a lot of photos that are work related, photo of text or an item I gave to replace and need to be able to show it to a supplier. Not something I want to see piping up on my Home Screen. If it would select featured from a set folder/folders we at least would have the ability to control what pops up

I agree. Completely useless not being able to control the photos. A lot of people are bringing up widget apps. That isn’t the answer, I I never thought about having photos on home page like that I just want the standard iPhone app to be functional, that means having some control. Hopefully apple are seeing this and a future update will correct something that is completely useless but a good idea of done properly.

It seems such a simple oversight by Apple to put a wedge it on your phone which allows you to feature special photos, not what you want but what the great Apple bots think you want.

Its becoming quite normal for Apple lately to underwhelm us all with less than user friendly ideas.

I would love to find a way to be able to remember my dad who passed away last year that wasn’t literally the only photo that appears in this feature. Amazing to realize Apple employees haven’t done anything about this in the 6+ months since they released this feature.

The unmitigated gall of Appleto impose it's Big Brother will on it's base. The optio to delete but not add. If I can't have input & control over something as person as my photos, eliminate the "Favorites" feature. This smacks of FASCISM on a technical level.

There’s always been a limit to the customization of apple products, not really fascism, don’t need to capitalize it to make a point, I do agree it’s a useless features as with most of the “widgets” compared to an android device, but you can always switch over and have full control

Same problem. Since I’ve owned my iPhone 12 Pro Max, my photo on the default photo widget was large and though I had no choice of what it was, rarely saw the same photo twice (a new one ever hour). This morning the large widget was gone and was instead part of a stack. (With music widget and a few other things.) I deleted the stack and reloaded my photo widget. Now, however, it chooses from only five photos (!). I looked in my photos and see that only five are in my FEATURED PHOTOS. (Granted, I haven’t looked there till today, so don’t know how this folder appeared yesterday.) Hoping more photos are added!

I guess so.

I am in the same dilemma! And I am using the new iOS 14 in its beta version. I’ll mention it to apple to fix this.
