i would stay away from playing a game and charging at the same time. I was playing COD Mobile and charging and heard the crackle/pop, noticed the plastic part of my charger was split and cracked a little.. was freaked out and started charging my phone on the opposite side of the room.

My SE did not come with a wall plug so I’ve been using my older cable because I wasn’t gonna go buy the new one.

Hello Joshua132Aa,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. We understand you're experiencing distorted sound through the speakers of your iPhone.

It's important to have good quality sound, and we'd like to help.

To help troubleshoot this behavior, we recommend to follow the steps outlined in this helpful article: If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker

Now if that doesn't help, please let us know if you experience the same behavior, when you watch videos or listen to music on your iPhone.

Kind regards.

Mine does this too and has been doing so since April 2020.

It appears to only occur when the Phone is charging. But it doesn't happen every time I charge it and doesn't occur during wireless charging.

All my charging cables and wall adapters are original Apple so I know that it's not the issue. I also read that many other users are experiencing these issues along with random shutdowns occurring for no reason.

I think it's time to take it in for repair.

Been following this thread as I have had the same issue. Have chatted with Apple Support on different occasions and was told it was an OS issue. Random popping sounds still occur with the update to 14.4. Got my phone in November but didn’t start hearing the popping until Jan. It is hard to replicate in the spot as the popping occurs randomly and not all the time when charging or playing a certain game. I continue to add to my log and will eventually bring my phone into an Apple store to see what they can do. Hope someone has better luck and a resolution!

I have the same problem with my iphone SE 2020... like there's a random popping noise but i usually keep my phone on silent. I've checked my vibrations and actual sound and they're all fine. It's just this weird random popping noise that usually happens when i charge it or even when i'm using it on my bed just browsing my sns... I just hope it isn't a sign of... exploding or something O_O;;

I have brand new iphone 12 pro max and I am having this issue too. Since I bought it from Usa and I am living in Turkey. I cannot send it to the official service to check it. I went to the store and checked another iphone 12 pros and the issue exists on them too. I am asking to my friends who owns iphone 11 pro vs. they say I don't hear anything, however obviously if you have sensitive ear it can be easily heard that small annoying popping sound coming from earpiece speaker above %80 volume if you are watching tiktok someone talking etc.

in this video it can be easily heard if you get close your ears to the earpiece speaker.

@ItsTy I am using the same cables, chargers and external batteries as I had with my iPhone 8. My iPhone 8 never had these issues.

To answer your question, the pop sound has happened while charging and not charging. Sometimes there is also a static sound when there is a notification.

What is frustrating is that these occurrences are not consistent so it is hard to replicate the issue on the spot if you bring your phone into the Genius Bar.

I also have this problem! It's taken me months to realise where the sound was coming from!

I'm not playing games, I hear it when I charge my phone and it's on silent and I have an app open. In my case it's SLEEPCYCLE (which monitors your sleep and acts as an alarm). The popping noise is totally random, but it's there... every single night!

Can't Apple fix this???
