Opened suspicious text message from HMRC

Hi guys

Today I got a suspicious message from a random number claiming to be HMRC. They were talking about a tax rebuttal and provided me with a link. I sent the message to HMRC and they said that they’ll investigate and confirm if the message was genuine. At this point I accidentally clicked on the link provided and it took me to a webpage (that seemed like a gov.uk webpage) which was asking me to fill in my details. I did not fill in any details and immediately went off the page. I then changed most of my passwords (including Apple ID) and downloaded the mcafee mobile security app. I ran a scan in the and it said that there were no WiFi or system threats. I also cleared me history and cookies data. However I am still worried that my personal information may have been put at risk and I’m not sure how reliable the mcafee app is. What do you guys think about this situation?

Don't worry. You have already reported it to the correct systems and you've done well. The worst thing that could happen is the scammers know you have clicked on the link which means they know your mobile number is active, this might make you more prone to scams in the future (this is only a small possibility as these links are often tracked) but the scammer wouldn't have gained any further details if you didn't fill in the form.
