Opened suspicious text message from HMRC
Hi guys
Today I got a suspicious message from a random number claiming to be HMRC. They were talking about a tax rebuttal and provided me with a link. I sent the message to HMRC and they said that they’ll investigate and confirm if the message was genuine. At this point I accidentally clicked on the link provided and it took me to a webpage (that seemed like a gov.uk webpage) which was asking me to fill in my details. I did not fill in any details and immediately went off the page. I then changed most of my passwords (including Apple ID) and downloaded the mcafee mobile security app. I ran a scan in the and it said that there were no WiFi or system threats. I also cleared me history and cookies data. However I am still worried that my personal information may have been put at risk and I’m not sure how reliable the mcafee app is. What do you guys think about this situation?
