iTunes Match Confusion

I used iTunes Match. What happened to my own music library from my CDs? How do I retrieve them? Apple has pride itself, since its founder's days to be inventor of apps and devices that are really intuitive and easy to use, from the questions and confusion regards this service, obviously it has deviated big time from the design values of the founder, its really a shame :(

Hi,

This is a link to Subscribe to iTunes Match - Apple Support.

Note Specifically:

"About iTunes Match

iTunes Match uploads your music library from the Apple Music app on your Mac or iTunes for Windows on your PC. Then you can access your music library on all of your devices that have Sync Library turned on.

To subscribe to iTunes Match, update your Mac to the latest version of macOS. On your PC, make sure that you have the latest version of iTunes for Windows.

iTunes Match isn't a back up service, so make sure to always have a back up of your music collection before you make any changes."

This is the problem, when I subscribed to iTunes Match, the idea was to stream from cloud so I could play from multiple devices, and save storage space, when I stop subscribing to the service, there was no reminder or warning that personal data uploaded on the cloud will be deleted along with stopping the subscription, so now I have to grapple with the fact that my music data is forever gone. Is this intuitive?
