Best all in one printer with Mac

I'm using an HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 All-In-One printer connected wirelessly with my iMac. Using OS 10.15.6. No problems with printing but almost continuous problems with scanning. Using the HPSmart app. When contacted, HP support usually suggests deleting and downloading the HPSmart app or deleting and reinstalling the printer itself. Lastly, they always say that this is a known problem and that an update is coming. HP updates for the Mac operating system are almost always "coming soon" but they never come.

At this point, I'm about ready to throw out the printer, but is there something out there that works better? My usage is personal. I don't want to have separate machines for printing and scanning, but is that the better solution? Suggestions?

Open Image Capture in your Applications folder and try using it for scanning. If Image Capture works, then you can just throw out the incompatible HP scan-ware.

FWIW Image Capture has been part of OS X and macOS for many many years and I have always used it instead of the manufactures scan-ware.

If you are looking for a replacement all-in-one, I highly recommend looking at the Epson Eco-Tank all-in-one.

Try using the demo version of VueScan with your HP. If you like it you can purchase it to remove the watermark it puts over all scans. I find it better than any of the apps that came any of my past scanners.

Have you tried scanning with either Preview or Image Capture? Give them a try.
