Adding bookmarks in Safari on MacBook Pro

I have a long list of bookmark folders. I'm constantly adding to it. I'm wondering if there's a simpler way to do either of the things below.

When I want to bookmark a page, I do the following:

Type Command D

Scroll to folder name in drop-down list

Click on Add

Is there a way to get to the folder by starting to type the name (as in some address drop-downs, where if you want to get to Massachusetts, for example, M takes you to states beginning with M)?

Also, if I want to bookmark a page into a new folder, I do the following:

Open Book marks menu

Click on Add Bookmark Folder

Scroll to bottom of Bookmarks list

Rename "untitled folder" to the new name I want

Then go through steps above to add bookmark.

It seems there ought to be a way to add the new folder through the initial Add Bookmark window (more like Chrome). Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Actually I have active Use keyboard navigation to move focus between controls in System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Shortcuts.

In this way, as I said, the dropdown menu is automatically focused after pressing Command D. There's no search field. Just start typing the first letters of a know folder and the highlighted folder should appear focused.

Regarding the creation of a new folder inside the Add Bookmark panel, unfortunately, I don't think it's possible.

Thanks for your reply, Marco. Yes, that's the behavior I'm looking for, but that's not what happens.

When I hit Command D, I see "Add this page to" and a single line with the folder I used most recently, with up and down arrows next to the folder name. Below that are lines with name of the page I'm on, which I can edit or change, and a space for a description. If I click on the folder name, the dropdown list shows up and I can scroll through it and click on another folder name to select it. It isn't possible to type in a name or to add a new folder--at least I haven't been successful. If I've remembered to always leave an untitled folder at the bottom of the list--a big if--I can't rename it. I have to add the page to the untitled folder, then open the Bookmarks list, scroll to the untitled folder, then rename it.

I've tried again several times since I got your response, but with the same result. Thanks again, though.
