Green tint on external monitor in fullscreen

I am currently connecting my 2020 MacBook Pro (13") to an external monitor via HDMI.

Issue:

Watching videos/movies in fullscreen, the display occasionally has a green tint. Images can still be seen but in different shades of green rather than normal colours.

This occurs only in fullscreen mode, and only for some videos and not others.

The green tint disappears when paused and moving the mouse but returns once resumed.

Macbook, Monitor and cables are brand new.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

For me the problem recurs occasionally. Each time it does I just go to:

System Preferences > Accessibility > Displays > Cursor,

I then set Cursor Size to Normal.

Fixes the problem every time.

Even if it was already set to Normal, I just slide the Cursor Size slider away from Normal and then back to Normal and that fixes it.

Such a silly bug. Hope this workaround works for you.

A BenQ GW2270H Monitor 21.5 Pollici, FHD.

I'm waiting for a new Philips QHD but I don't know if this will solve the problem.

Thank you for the suggestion.

I have done this but the problem still occurs.

I have read elsewhere that for some MacBooks it can be resolved by going to system preferences>energy saver and disabling automatic graphics switching. This was posted in 2017 and I cannot seem to locate the automatic graphics switching option for the 2020 MacBook Pro.

apologies for the inactivity and thank you for your reply.

Unfortunately, I am unable to test against various displays and MacBooks because I only have access to my current MacBook and external display. I can confirm that this issue has been present from the start, with a brand new MacBook Pro 2020 and a brand new external monitor and cables.

I read elsewhere that for some older MacBooks, a similar issue could be resolved by disabling automatic graphics switching in the energy saver system preference. It appears that my new MacBooks does not have this option, has it been removed or relocated? I appreciate your comments on this

For this solution of going into system settings > accessibility > display > cursor, and then turning off "shake mouse pointer to locate", I have also found that the problem can recur in which case toggling “shake mouse pointer to locate” back on Fixed the issue again. So try both.

also others have reported that the slider control for Cursor Size in this menu area can also fix the problem. Try moving the slider and then setting back to “Normal”.

with regards “Graphic switching”... I would expect this option to only show Within the Energy Saver menu if you have both dedicated and discreet graphics cards built into your MacBook. however since you mentioned your MBP 2020 is a 13” I believe yours only has the one dedicated graphics built in. Since there is no other card to switch between you won’t see/have the option you are looking for.

I had the same problem on my MacBook Air 2020, what I did was to disable Night Shift and the issue has gone.

What type of external monitor are you using?
