I'm glad you are able to access your email again, but what you've described is not really a fix for the problem others are having. It is a workaround at best. The true problem is the web interface to iCloud mail. There are cases where the solution they provided you will not work. For example, if you access your personal iCloud mail account from a work (or other) network that blocks outbound connections to foreign mail servers, you will be able to read mail, but not send it. And it is possible, though less likely, that those networks block inbound traffic from foreign mail servers which would render Apple's solution completely useless. "Fixing" a problem by recommending the use of an entirely different product is kind of a cop-out if you ask me.
Like I said, I'm glad this solution is working for you but there is still a larger problem for Apple to fix.
Just FYI....I pulled the trigger on the Big Sur upgrade last night. The problem with iCloud mail still exists in Chrome and FireFox browsers. Safari, surprise surprise, seems to work well with iCloud mail, though it does take an unusually long time to initially load the iCloud landing page.
