Safari 14.0 Top Sites no longer an option?

Yeah, I did a feedback as well. What Apple is missing in feedback that other companies have is the ability to add a +1 to an existing feedback so they can see how many people are complaining about the issue. With the thousands of feedbacks they get an issue can easily get lost from not having the same "subject".

First, I am new to this community. I've been with Apple for years. I am angry with Apple engineers/management for eliminating Top Sites with Big Sur. Top Sites is my springboard to whatever I will be using the computer for at any time. To Apple: Either you re-install Top Sites, we find a work-around or I'll be leaving Apple. What is the matter with you Apple? I am fed up with your audacity! This was no improvement.

Ah, so they made it intuitive, instead of hiding it by putting it in the Background Image panel. Clever.

From the desktop go to the menu bar at the top of the screen, click on GO, hold down the OPTION key, Library appears about 4 lines down, click on it.

I'm so frustrated about this, it was working fine then out of nowhere Safari restarts itself and I lose 'Top Site' which I used ALL THE TIME to frequent webpages I go to on a regular (Admin, Blogs, Socials, Downloads, etc). This has DRASTICALLY slowed down my workflow, I'm not happy about it at all and would like to see it return!!!

You didn't read my post. As explained I realize that you can take your old Top Sites and make them favorite, but the favorites bar served a different function entirely for me and my workflow. Now the favorites bar is cluttered with Top Sites. Everything is all lumped together. It might be the same difference to you, but it isn't that way for me. If I wanted the pages that were previously Top Sites as favorites, I would have made them favorites in the first place.

i just wish it worked as well for EVERYONE ELSE as it does for us. LOTS of disappointed users here. especially for people that want "favorites" and "top sites" to be independent from one another. i only learned the difference an hour ago. my mac is for recreation. i now see a lot of other user's workflow is now unacceptable due to the new safari.

Note that the "pin" option is NOT a substitute for Top Sites, as it keeps the web pages active, which, depending on the website, can consume A LOT of resources, CPU, memory, network traffic ...!!! Top Sites only captures the url and uses no resources.

I use "pin" as well but for a different purpose from Top Sites.

Agreed, but what a pain, I am over 50 and wonder if the change and those of us really angry/frustrated/down right mad are caught up in a generational thing. My kids don't use the Top Sites so they didn't even consider it an issue

From what I've seen on prior topics, Apple doesn't monitor the discussion groups, so doubt they'll see it here. What was suggested to me was using Feedback, but I'm not sure just how much Apple takes them seriously.

i do agree, top sites was a very useful tool. i'm one of the few that actually likes the new page as is. however, since it's interfering with other users workflow, i would like to see apple reinstate the top sites option. and above you mention that you were able to place the top sites in the order you wanted them. you can do that with the favorites by a) drag and drop them within the start page, or b) reorganize them in the safari sidebar.

This is enraging and hard to understand why this feature was removed with no easy option to access these pages post update. Asinine decision making. The new start site for Safari looks like a child made it and is useless. Fix this Apple, we expect better from you!

Yes, it says "Favorites" but it's actually a collection of your bookmarks. I began deleting them, thinking I was just deleting the icons, but noticed above, my bookmark folders of the same names were gone! Thankfully, I was able to undo their deletions, but that's a pretty dangerous thing, making them look like just icons, so that people may mistakenly eliminate entire folders of bookmarks! And Macs used to be so "intuitive", .... I too often feel like I'm suddenly on a Windows computer...

I agree this is terrible! I am stumped and now need to spend hours trying to find all my important daily tasks all beautifully configured on Top Sites. No warning. Very Rude Apple, Fix it!
