iPhone camera not working after iOS 14 update

Hello... after I updated my iPhone 7 Plus to iOS 14, my camera acts up. It doesn't load the camera. I then try to turn on the flashlight but it doesn't work either. Sometimes, I try to repeatedly turn on and off the flashlight until suddenly it works. I then come back to the camera and keep switching the camera modes, and rarely, it functions. Once I exit it an try the camera on an app though, it doesn't work again. Restarting didn't help my problem.

Hi, you can check this: If the camera or flash on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch isn't working

You can restore your phone as new:

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

If the issue persists, you can take your phone to an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider. Book an appointment on getsupport.apple.com or use the Apple Support app.

Finally I could solve this problem on my Iphone X. While the phone was upgrade, some protective components are damaged and may cause some to disconnect. It sounds crazy but that happened on my iPhone. A technician opened my iPhone and just put the front camera connector in its place, which had come off. This was my solution, an unusual problem but luckily it worked for me. I hope it serves you

The only solution is a software update or to purchase a new phone. Thats why Apple does this - to force an upgrade. I've talked to their support dozens of times and no solution has ever been offered. Its not a hardware issue like they continue to claim. Obviously this post will be removed by them - wait for it to disappear.

Thanks you're really helpful........

Apple Support suggests that it is a hardware problem and it should be taken into the store and have the assembly replaced for over $100 dollars. Obviously nobody is going to pay for that on an iphone 7. The one instance I was able to find of a member doing that, he still had the problem and then Apple was more willing to work with him (read acknowledge the software) issue. But that's a $100 gamble because even if new hardware doesnt solve the problem you won't get your money back.

The only thing you can do is take it to an Apple store and hope they do the right thing.

camera was working just fine 2 days ago on ios 14.7. What I did was to open whatsapp and use it's camera interface to send a photo whic was pitch black. I turned phone off and on which I received a message that face ID no longer works everything happening in mere minutes. I did everything official including erasing content and upgrading to 14.7.1 which did not solve the issue. I believe this is software related but seems the bug in ios has been triggered by an app which apple have or have not yet found out since similar issues have been around with different ios and phones for a few years now. Flashing ios back or forward to some developer betas may me worth giving a try.

Same bug. Such a pain! Feels like having a crappy phone from a crappy company. Can’t believe this is happening with Apple! Got the bug on 2 phones at home, can you imagine? They are both iPhone 8 both new at the time. No camera, no flashlight on both! I have tried EVERYTHING possible, at least TWICE, from this thread, and the from the tips over the web, and from Apple support. They told me I should buy a new phone… really?

I would not be surprise it is some kind of conflict with the device (7 and 8) + the ios (13 and 14) + the user data (icloud, id, and saved data from the phone which gets transfer to the next phone). Otherwise it would once again look like planned obsolescence as I did live back when the iPhone 6 batteries were getting flushed within hours after an ios upgrade… remember that people?

Same for me but after update 15.0.1, also with microphone and torch not working in all app except phone calls.

Read a lot of forum, call a lot of of time Apple (even for put iPhone 8 in DFU: nothing real on the web, it has been more simple than everything found and useless, open iTunes (or finder in big sur) just switch off iPhone after volume up and down an switch on again an quickly put the cable in while keeping switch on) and at the end, in DFU mode, just select "update" (you can also choose "reset" but will be longer i think). My Phone, even if was updated at the last iOS, updated again and, ABRACADABRA, camera, mic and torch back again ! REMEBER A BACKUP FIRST OF ALL !

Have to say that the last Apple operator, seems a little bit senior technician passed me from the first one, after an online system check (never seen, it was under "privacy": it creates a log that operator receives) told me that was an hardware issue in the camera and so have to go in apple store for repair. Luckly i have been stubborn.
