iPhone camera not working after iOS 14 update

Hello... after I updated my iPhone 7 Plus to iOS 14, my camera acts up. It doesn't load the camera. I then try to turn on the flashlight but it doesn't work either. Sometimes, I try to repeatedly turn on and off the flashlight until suddenly it works. I then come back to the camera and keep switching the camera modes, and rarely, it functions. Once I exit it an try the camera on an app though, it doesn't work again. Restarting didn't help my problem.

Hi, you can check this: If the camera or flash on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch isn't working

You can restore your phone as new:

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

If the issue persists, you can take your phone to an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider. Book an appointment on getsupport.apple.com or use the Apple Support app.

Yes, that sounds like what happened to me after upgrading my iPhone 7 Plus to iOS 14.3 - only in my case the phone function is also acting up in addition to the camera... many times I make a call and although the call goes through (as confirmed by text) the person at the other end doesn't hear anything (and I don't hear anything either).

I hope that Apple fixes this issue in the next update; however, I have lost faith in the updates and wish that I hadn't installed this latest one.

What was especially frustrating is that on Apple Support when I reported that I had seen others with the same issues in this forum, the Apple Support person claimed to not see other similar issues reported. It might be helpful to have some sort of a form to fill out where you can tick off what is and isn't working and add comments as necessary to explain (or something). It is clear to me (45 pages of comments) that others have this issue and I am not alone.

Good point. My 15" Macbook Pro was going to be replaced this year a 16" but it seems I can't trust their updates. I won't own products the company won't stand behind.

I spent over an hour today on chat with apple support to be told that software updates can cause failures in hardware to appear. Which means the change in software is what caused the issue. Despite this Apple will not provide a remedy for the problem or a replacement. They wont even provide a credit if I'm willing to pay for an upgrade. This is totally unacceptable. I was always willing to pay for Apple products because they came with the treatment one gets when paying a premium as well as great service. Now they're fighting for the market and treating customers like a Cable company does. They know they have you and they don't care about you now.

I think the iOS14 update damaged the some part of phone’s motherboard which is connected with phone camera because i have seen many customers are still facing camera problem even after camera part replacement(paid). As a software engineer the one thing i know is that the any new iOS update will not repair the damaged hardware again.

I’m having the same problems on my iPhone 8. Camera is a black screen. Calls get dropped for poor connection and FaceTime won’t even go through because of poor connection. Apple support and advisor keep trying to say it’s the SIM card, which it is not. It is an iOS 14 problem. They also act like they have never heard of these issues before which is impossible if you look at how many people are complaining of the same thing here and elsewhere with a simple search. How is this not fixed het

This is an Apple support community. Despite the fact that Apple controls it and all the information I was hoping to find out whether anyone has a solution. But really just to watch Apple keep kicking me after I supported them for all these years.

I've been hoping for a fix in the iOS 14.4 updates but nothing so far. I'm online with apple tech support for the third time.

I had this problem for a while on my Iphone 7s this is all what I did:

1st - Confirm that it is indeed a software problem. I did it by using the ebay App and in the search used the camera functionality. Indeed my camera and flash were working fine from ebay, so it must be a software issue.

2nd - I did a Reset All Settings. I'm not sure if this is necessary but as I mentioned I'm listing all the things I did until it finally worked. For this go to Settings - General - Reset - Reset All Settings. Make sure you read about what Reset All Settings will do to some of your configurations like WIFI, Apple Card Pay etc. and take precautionary steps if deemed necessary.

3rd - I removed the NFC Tag Reader from Control Center. Setting - Control Center

4th - I turned on the Flashlight and then opened the Camera. Again, still did not work but I'm listing all I did until it finally worked as I don't know the relationship between all these steps and the final outcome when it finally worked.

5th - Finally, while the camera is opened, hit the 1x button to enter into 2x zoom, voila! The freaking camera is working now!

I hope someone at Apple can take a look at this and resolves the OBVIOUS software issue. Maybe give me a freaking discount! :-)
