iPhone camera not working after iOS 14 update

Hello... after I updated my iPhone 7 Plus to iOS 14, my camera acts up. It doesn't load the camera. I then try to turn on the flashlight but it doesn't work either. Sometimes, I try to repeatedly turn on and off the flashlight until suddenly it works. I then come back to the camera and keep switching the camera modes, and rarely, it functions. Once I exit it an try the camera on an app though, it doesn't work again. Restarting didn't help my problem.

Hi, you can check this: If the camera or flash on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch isn't working

You can restore your phone as new:

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

If the issue persists, you can take your phone to an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider. Book an appointment on getsupport.apple.com or use the Apple Support app.

I have had the camera replaced and the flashlight replaced after my iPhone 7plus stopped working after iOS 14 update end of November last year. I went to collect it and the technician said “I’ll just show you everything is working “ before I stumped up the cash for the repairs. Black screen on both cameras and no flash light. Surprise Surprise! Fortunately I still have my old 5s. Cameras and flashlight work too!

I now have an iPhone X that works (camera, flash and mic), and don't dare to upgrade to 14.3 cause I fear it may break something (e.g., I saw the post by cali140).

What is the "thing" that some of you (e.g., @MrsOux) mentioned here that "worked"? Just in case at some point I upgrade and get a problem. And what does this solve, the camera/flash, or also the mic?

@cali140: Did the upgrade to 14.3 break down the camera/flash on your iPhone X? What about the mic? Does it still work?

iOS 14.0 broke my iphone 7 front facing camera. I was hoping 14.1, 14.2, or 14.3 would fix it but no luck. Apple just pretends its a hardware issue and they're ignoring it.

The iPhone X is to new for them to break on purpose so you're forced to upgrade. I would make sure you have a current back up and then do a full reset - that should solve it.

@figante when I turned off the NFC reader, my camera worked again, but I was still having mic issues and couldn’t video call on any application. I did a “reset all settings” - so I didn’t lose anything except settings. After this I was able to video call, mic worked, etc.

Just tonight I’ve realized I can’t record video only take still pictures.....so not sure what is going on. It seems like the issues float in and out (and probably aren’t able to be recreated by Apple’s QA people which is why they can’t claim the issue or fix it.)

Hello, my microphone stopped working after one of these updates. Had the camera issue too, but another update fixed it.

What really bothers me is that it seems to be a software problem, and I can't believe that Apple is not fixing this issue. Due to the microphone issue, I cannot make phonecalls: the most important thing a phone can do. This also means I cannot call 911 when there is an emergency or other dangerous situations in which I need to make a fast phone call and don't have time to turn on and connect my bluetooth headset, which only works when charged.

I know there's always rumours that Apple ruins phones with updates like this, so we buy more phones. But at the moment I don't have money for a new phone, neither do I want to invest in a company that does such things. So I guess I will be stuck with my broken phone and will die in a house fire, because I cannot call the fire station in time.

No update is going to fix the issue. Only thing is getting a new phone. Either buy one or keep hounding Apple until they replace it. I did for bout 3 weeks (1 time a week) then finally Apple care called me on Saturday and offered to replace my 7+ with 128GB iPhone XR. After I sent mine in 3 days late I got a new phone. No not a refurb in a sealed box
