Tell Apple here:

Feedback - iPhone - Apple

Be specific about what you like and what you don't; if you just say it's "horrible" or a "nightmare" that's not constructive and so nothing can be done with that.

Say what you would like it to look like or how you want it to operate.

No one here can do anything about it.

Unnfortunateky it still moves

(Un-Prioritizes) the END time entry down Below the CALANDER & Time zone??? . no matter what, requiring me to scroll.down.

It's so weird...

It's really unfortunate because punching the numbers in via keypad is an improvement ...

Why they separated the start & end times is a major screw up.

Maybe an intern was running this upgrade while the designers were on vacation?

The number keypad isn't the problem for me.

Its that the START AND END times are separated by the CALANDER and Time Zone! It's So weird??

You enter a start time and then the CALANDER POPS UP moving the "End TIME" entry box down below the CALANDER so you have to scroll down to find and enter the end time.

I'm already on the date when I'm making an entry. I don't want to search to find the "End Time" Box when entering times. It's an extra and extremely annoying step that wasn't there before.

I HAVE WRITTEN TO APPLE AND REALLY HOPE THEY FIX THIS GIANT MISTAKE.

In the mean time maybe Apple will read and respond to some of the comments & complaints posted.

Apple isn't reading here for suggestions and doesn't respond to them when you use the feedback page.

As has been noted, if you tap on the time, when you are setting up a new event, you get a huge (about a third of the screen) keypad on which to select the time. It's much easier to use than the old fiddly scroll wheels.

you say 'We understand you'd like to revert back to a previous format in the Calendar app' but the links you give dont let you do that, or provide any help. I just wasted half an hr on this TERRIBLE new Cal to create a meeting, and in fact couldnt do it. Yet the original app I understood in 2 secs. PLEASE allow a 'Use old Cal system' stop wasting your users time. Please.

I absolutely HATE the new calendar - NOT intuitive, NOT functional, POORLY organized, POORLY designed. I've missed appointments because of it which pretty much defeats it's purpose. It's one of the clunkier, uglier things I've seen Apple do which is odd because how hard can it be to create a calendar? For the love of G*d, please give us the old calendar back! This crap is literally driving me nuts. I've used Apple products for decades but they've fallen behind the pack.

In the same way I could go from driving a luxury automobile that’s ergonomically beautiful and rides like a dream to driving a cheap English car with the steering wheel on the wrong side with a left handed stick shift in the US.

Sure, I could learn how to operate it but It would still suck.

Thats what migrating to this calendar feels like.

The reason I use Apple Products is because I expect them to be easy and ergonomic and don’t require a learning curve. They should feel natural and intuitive.

This “Update” is poorly designed.

it’s not just about the new keypad style time input.

It’s the fact that when I’m entering the START AND END TIMES.

For some strange reason, someone decided to put a POPUP CALENDAR after I enter my start time... requiring me to scroll down to the bottom of the page to finish entering the End time.

WHY?

it’s a complete interruption to time entry.

Most people will enter their Start & End times in that order...

not

start time ..,

calendar ..,

end time...,

The POP UP CALENDAR needs to be removed completely.

if I wanted a poorly designed phone I would buy an android..

And another thing, I’m noticing certain people on this forum with smirky smug responses to the multitude of complaints about this crappy calendar.

It just shows a lack of sensitivity or awareness to ergonomics....

If you really think this is an improvement, I have a Ford Pinto for sale that I’m sure you would love.

and Ill throw in an Android phone to boot.

Just to say Im dismayed by the new cal in ios 14.4. Literally a waste of users time.

Did Apple ever hear of muscle memory? I call this the CURSE: Coercive User Retraining for Software Entrapment... I feel this is done deliberately to force users to unnecessarily spend more time investing in a system, thus preventing migration. Apple are not alone in the CURSE syndrome, Adobe for example constantly change keyboard shortcuts. Maybe Im wrong this is merely stupid rather than deliberate. But 'muscle memory' is a pretty well known concept nowadays (ignored in various snide comments on this thread dismissing critical opinions I note).

Why does Apple make its users pay the price?

At least provide an option to revert to old format rather than this brutal force to something we dont choose. Thanks

PS Im aware Apple dont officially read this and also submitted to Feedback - iPhone - Apple

So by that argument, what about the people who have been using the iOS 14 Calendar since it was released almost six months ago?

Mar 11, 2021 3:43 AM in response to carlafromvernon

Do they actually do ANY user research on their software these days or do they just do a Microsoft and bung it out there worts and all.

The calendar is just another indication as to how poor Apple usability has become in recent years, as far as I can tell Apple has completely lost it! The fact that the competition software is even more crap than Apple's is not an excuse for the world's leading phone and software manufacture to churn out such dross.

Please try harder Apple, employ user researchers and improve the usability of your software there is no excuse for this.

Dear Apple,

please, please, pleeeeease redesign the Calender. I use an iPhone, an iPad and a Mac along with my partner with the same kit. Our daily moan is the new horrid design of the Calender. We used to check our diaries at a glance but now it is just a horrible chore because it is not easy to distinguish between the days. Please check any new design with a clinic before releasing.

Chris, well that's just another area where Apple are getting everything wrong since Mr jobs left the mortal coil then isn't it?

If I wanted to improve my software this would be the first place I would be looking, in fact I do work in software and it s the first place I look on our app! Apple are far too concerned with their new product fat profits to worry about real users, but the time of reckoning is coming for them, they can't continue to churn out Dross and get away with it.

You seem a bit confused. My name is Idris, not Chris.

And, given how successful Apple has continued to be even after Mr. Jobs died, I think they're doing a few things right. Like Lawrence, I've given feedback on how much I like the new calendar date/time picker.

Mar 22, 2021 6:50 AM in response to IdrisSeabright

I used to be An Apple fan but not anymore.

The days when they user tested software and made sure user the user journey is always improved is well and truly over.

I buy Apple products for compatibility with all my other stuff, which I have because it used to be the leader in usability. But I seem to spend hours just about every day bemoaning the state of Apple software, I could and do design better myself.
