Tell Apple here:
Be specific about what you like and what you don't; if you just say it's "horrible" or a "nightmare" that's not constructive and so nothing can be done with that.
Say what you would like it to look like or how you want it to operate.
No one here can do anything about it.

The days when they user tested software and made sure user the user journey is always improved is well and truly over.
FACT: iOS 14 was beta tested for over 3 months by over a million users. So apparently a majority of them either didn’t care about this change or approved of it, as I do.
You need to click the "Following" button at the top of the page. If you have posted multiple times in the thread you may need to do it more than once. Here is the process:

Why are you waiting? If the app doesn't meet your needs, find one that does. Life is too short to spend it being annoyed by things like this.

You need to understand that Apple doesn’t care whether or not you use their app. It is a very basic app for users too cheap to install a better one from the app store. Apple would actually prefer that you use a 3rd party app, because it encourages developers to support iOS (and also earns Apple some revenue, but I’m sure that isn’t on their mind 😏)
So... any way to get the old calendar view back?
I really hate the list view. No clear overview when all the events are written in bold while the day headlines dissapears among them.

New time format is incredibly difficult to use and defies all common sense or intuitive approaches. Bring back the old; this is a case of a change for change’s sake that doesn’t work and just isn’t needed!

I simply can’t fathom how tapping the time and entering it on the keypad isn’t infinitely preferable to spinning the slot machine reels.
It has been my observation that a fair number of people keep spinning the numbers (you can still do that I think) and are completely ignoring the new keyboard. I don't get that.
Apparently, there were also some changes in the way things look, I think in list view. I never noticed a difference but, some people don't like the way it looks now. Different preferences....
I tried the Apple calendar app to find out what the fuss was, and I liked the way it worked, but I’ve been using Week Calendar since before there were iPhones on my Palm Treo and earlier Palm PDAs, and before that HP PDAs.
It’s not just about the spinning wheels..
it’s about the fact that a giant calendar pops up in the middle of entering the start and stop times... and having to scroll up and down to simply enter an out time..,
truly poor design..
unfortunately the defenders of mediocrity find this a pleasurable practice.. compared to the previous design... it really just sucks..

You seem to be saying that anyone who has different needs or tastes than you do is somehow wrong or stupid. How charming.

why Is the date in the middle of the start time and end times. I can never get to the end times.
Because the date of the start time might be different than the date of the end time. Just swipe a bit further down the screen.
I get the dates need to be defined separately for start and end times. But I’m having so much trouble adapting to this - and I’ve adapted a lot since my first palm pda. Maybe if the date and time were indented under Starts and ends menu it would be more intuitive. I gave Apple my feedback on the link you provided. Anyway having this conversation with you has helped me identify what causes my mistakes. Maybe I can adapt now. For me it is about collapsing / expanding the start and date menus - which as you noted are each separate under start and ends - but that isn’t clear visually.
The new Calendar format. Hate hate hate. Like the person who said they thought theyvwould get used to it, I have not. During corona lockdown, didn't norice because had zero appointments.
Now traveling. This Calendar is worse than dysfunctional. It is completely. I am using Notes app, and have to be careful with note titles so I can find hotel, flight, car, etc. info!
Tyrannical way Apple changes your phone without a word of warning, much less customer survey.
Like many others, ridiculously hard just to add date and time. Who complained about former app?
I'm disappointed in that I hear they are bringing the scrolling wheels back in iOS 15. I always hated them, enough that I even sent positive feedback about the change to being able to manually type time in. Oh well, can't have it all.

Technically, they never completely went away. But, that is disappointing. I will be submitting feedback to that effect if it's what's in the final release.
About half of the time, I use Siri to start the appointment anyway.
