Face Id not working after iOS 14 update -iPhone X

Hey, I got off from a similar chat experience. In my case, the diagnostic results didn’t point to a hardware issue and also they’ve suggested me to visit apple store to have it checked thoroughly. I’m not planning to go to the store, please let us know what they suggest you to do.(H/W issue)

That’s wear all people on this chat has the same problem? After the update start it to have damages.

so if is a damage on the products they would be fix it free also if u are without warranty.

I don't know, maybe you're right but so many devices are facing this same issue. That's really not fair for those who're out of warranty. Iphone 12 mini is selling at $699 and they're asking for $650, what a joke. I updated to ios14.1 a min ago but the Face Id is still not working, guess we just have to live with it. Garbage company, pathetic service.

If you are still in warranty good for you. Also why are you on this thread because most of the people on here are no longer under warranty so it’s just a waste of your time. It’s more than a coincidence that soooo many people on here are have lost FaceID capabilities. I was on IOS 14.2 and it was working just fine until it didn’t! I just paid my X off earlier this year. I’m not trying to buy another phone like many of us on here. It’s a shame. I’m just really upset and I’m tired of seeing people on here like oh I got my phone fixed. Read the room people no one cares about you!! It’s for the people who do f have warranties and Apple is making it seem like it’s not an issue!!! When it’s a huge one!!

Agreed. While I understand my hardware is broken, FaceId was still working because I had my face scan (my words) saved.

My issue is iOS 14 requires the FaceId hardware to be working in order to use FaceId.

By implementing this software change, Apple is forcing owners to either upgrade to new hardware or enter passwords manually.

Thats poor customer service and Apple ignoring the voice of their customers.

Facts! It’s terrible that we are now forced to either buy a new phone or hold out as long as you can until you have any other issues. I suggest we stop updating because it might jam our phones up even more with the update.

truthfully the iPhone 12 is already outdated because iPhone 13 will be dropping next year!

So if indeed it is a bad chip only shown after iOS 14 update. Sounds like another class action to me.

Since these phones are not physically damaged! It is crazy that you can sell a phone for 1,000.00. Put out an update that shows a flaw, then tell people buy another 1,000.00 phone!

it goes back to the same thing with the battery problems on the earlier models, and they put out iOS to slow it down so it wouldn’t show the problem.

Okay, I think you misunderstood me. I'm also no longer under warranty, same as most of us in here and have no intention of buying another phone. I can manage with passcode but I just feel cheated.

Hi rude person. I was on this thread because I was trying to figure out the issue prior to getting my Genius Bar appointment. I didn’t want to go into the store. I hoped my experience could help eliminate some assumed causes of the issue. I’m not bragging that I have a warranty. Read the room yourself and understand people are trying to help. It’s a forum. Grow up.

Hello my friend. I think the same.... why with the emojis yes but with the Face ID no. I believed is something with the software... iOS update after 14.

the sad part is apple insist is not software problems. Just hardware issue.

Ip xs max face id not working too, tried restoring to factory settings and all fix found on google, still not working, *move high, move lower always, sometimes theres a message face id not available this time. It started after updating to ios 14.

Come on Apple, I know you can fix this, all you have to do is listen to your loyal customers (fans) We have been having this issue since updating to iOS 14 so why haven't you fixed it or even address the elephant in the room. Why have a faceID phone if nothing I do fixes the faceID problem. Give us please a sign of hope :)

These freaking guys have disabled my face ID im sure trying to push the 12 model. I was an avid yearly upgrader until I have just gotten simply BOARD of the insignificant upgrades!! Now they are resorting to this Sh**!!! Tried to let them know I was also having trouble with my APPLE MODEL 4 stainless and they have the lack of CS to offer me a replacement for 799!!!!!! Hahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 799!!!!!

now I truly believe as weak as the tech upgrades have been this is a technical marketing ploy to get people to say wth lets just purchase a new phone. Warped from the 1st edition first to have the original and now have an X I WISH TOYOTA OR HONDA WOULD MAKE A DAM PHONE BECAUSE THEY ACTUALLY LAST!!!

ios 14.2 beta 4 was my first try bevor 14.1 official was released, neither 14.2 nor 14.1 fixed the bug- it is really ludicrously a top player in consumer electronics can’t supply working updates to their clients.

I will never go to buy another apple product again, they way overpriced for their specifications and now they even don’t work due to faulty updates (this could be planned obsolescence as mentioned before)
