Hi, my iphone X is suddenly not recognizing my face after the iOS 14 update yesterday. I thought a face id reset will solve the issue, but it is still not working. When trying to set the face id, it is showing the error of ‘move the iphone a little higher/trlower’. Nothing works after multiple attempts. Is this an iOS14 issue?

SOLVED: Hi everyone! I had my appointment with Apple Genius Bar today. This is a faulty hardware issue. This is not related to iOS 14 nor will it be fixed with a new update. Sorry to say you'll have to pay $650 to replace your phone. Luckily I was still under my 1-Year limited warranty. The employee told me there is a chip in the hardware that has failed. Thankfully I walked out with a new phone at no cost. But I wanted to share my experience in hopes that it gives you some answer to this issue.
I'm the same, and i have followed all the online steps, recently updated, hard reset, factory reset and went through online support and diagnostics tests. (front camera working perfectly fine).
The online chat advisor thinks it is a hardware issue although there is no issue with the camera and it has only happened since updating the software?
They have said the phone needs to be sent away which will take two weeks (with no temporary replacement) or book an instore appointment. (i have booked a store appointment in a few days time and will leave an update once i have been).
If anyone has found any other solutions for this, please can you let me know?

My iphone X is not recognizing my face id after the IOS update. I tried restarting my phone that didn't work, and then I tried to reset my face ID and it's still not working. When I try to reset it it says "Move phone a little lower/higher" and then says unavailable.
I’m not taking it to Apple. I’ve spent a lot of money on this phone already and now I have to take it in to spend more money on something that many people are having trouble with and still unresolved. I’m not giving Apple anymore of my money. They’ve run a diagnostics test already and told me I need to take it to the Apple store. Not happening. Basically this is just as crooked as a mechanic when you take it to fix your car, then they fix it and break something else so you can keep coming back and they can keep making money.
I have the same issue with iphone X! Support 1st told its a problem with iCloud, then with the FaceID, then with my account...
I resetted the phone completely but still the same result: I end up at the crazy UI where I am asked to move my face in the frame (instead the old working one with the circle) and i moved the iphone up and down - what besides, dear Apple, looks totally stupid doing this in public! I don´t get why Apples iOS gets buggier from update to update!
So after a total of 10hours wasted between the support team and the retail store…I was able to send my phone in for repair. Am currently waiting for the phone to ship back. Luckily I have an old iPhone that works in the meantime. I suggest that the more plp complaints the easier it would be resolved.
My iPhone X Face ID is not working after iOS 14 update , Damnn you apple fix it , I do not want to buy new iPhone.
I'm experiencing the same issue with my Xs. Few hours after update and it stopped recognizing me.

Same here on maxS, interestingly if you try portrait mode on front camera it doesn’t work as well
Even my Face ID has stopped working after iOS 14
so i just install ios14 last night and now i cant setup face id. my husbands on ios 13 it still works
I tried cleaning it multiple times and it doesn’t work
