This statement is beyond wrong. That lawsuit was because of Apple throttling phone performance without notifying customers in an attempt to increase the life of the battery. It had nothing to do with Face ID.

Than I was lucky this time. I updated to 14.3 today and at least the Face ID issue is solved now. Oh I rejoyced too early. The Face ID issue is now intermittent. While it works with 1 of my apps and it was working for a few hours to unlock my phone now it stopped unlocking my phone. Still same error message I have to try Face ID after the phone has cooled down.

I never stated nor believed you did. I am stating it may be an unintended effect and should not be dismissed. Also, if the software update has an issue it should be able to be rolled back, even if only by the store (Apple) to investigate. I would happily go back to the previous version and have my phone functioning fully again. This would be a more transparent and less arrogant way for one of the world’s largest companies to behave.

Would be worth a try, unfortunately there is no way back to iOS 13.x unless apply provide a signed version at Ipsw.me or a jailbreak for this purpose will be developed.

Personally I use the phone until it is broke and then I switch to android and Surface will replace my iPad Pro (2017).

Never experienced such a bad customer care management

I upgraded to IOS 14.3 on 01/15/2021 and my face ID stopped working. I have been reading about this bug and it's ridiculous. How can Apple didn't find this bug before release this upgrade? I hope they are not doing this on purpose to force people to buy a new phone because I will not own another Apple product.

Went against my better judgement and traded in my Xs max due to the software update causing an issue with Face ID. I want to give a heads up to those of you looking to trade in a phone with Face ID issues since your last update: your device is only worth 25% of what they say it is worth prior to inspection. That was the only things wrong with mine and I received $93 of the $370 I was offered for my device trade in for a problem that was entirely caused by yours truly 4pple!!! 4pple will receive my farewell in due time. I’m fed up with their antics and unfair play.

This is the same with me it’s so annoying I really want it back 😡. I even called Apple and everything messaged them also but no still didn’t work they said go to the Apple shop but idk If your from yeh Uk but corona won’t make us go anywhere

They say that it can only be repaired by replacing completely the unit. The cost of the replacement is the cost of a new unit. They take you broken phone at $0 and you pay a new unit.

then what happens is that the fix your broken unit, sell it and keep the money.

that is apple’s fix... making more money by fooling you.

I’m also facing the same issue after updating my iPhone X to iOS 14.4.1. In fact when I am trying to reset my face id, it says face id is not available. I tried restarting my iPhone, it notify me that unable to activate face id on this iPhone.

So Apple, 30 pages of the same complaint and amazingly it is an incredible recurring coincidence and we, your customers are all stupid. Your arrogance and hubris as a company is what almost made you fail once before. Something about the lessons of the past...

I have to sign in with enormous passwords ever since the 14.4.2 update. I knew I shouldn’t have installed it. Alas, I did, and now navigating my phone takes TWICE AS LONG BC I HAVE TO TYPE IN INTRICATE/LENGTHY PW’s EVERYWHERE.

FIX THIS. IT SHOULD BE EASY, WORKED IN THE “OBSOLETE” PAST.

IT IS TIME CONSUMING AND EXTREMELY IRRITATING. ALL FOR THE LOW PRICE $1,000!

Mine is iPad Pro 2018. Not even 14.5 RC update fixed the issue. I’m giving up. Don’t have any money to fix it and since We don’t have Apple store, 3 rd party repairs probably mostly gonna make things worse. I think as suggested above, update had fried the sensor. We also having our 3 rd wave in Corona here too. So no more efforts. Feeling really sad because it was the only piece of tech I had other than my 6 years old del laptop for university.

Ever since the upgrade to 14......Face ID does not work, phone gets very hot and battery drains fast like crazy. None of the upgrades so far has fixed the problem. I am on 14.5.1 and still the same problem since many month.

hello i also have an issue regarding face id after i updated my iphone 11 on IOS 14.4.1 my iphone face id is little bit slow there is a gap between unlocking iphone with face id when i swipe up to go to the home screen but there is a message that is ''FACE ID'' and there is alo a mini lock after the mini unlock fully open then the home screen are visible and it may takes 1-2 seconds thank you did you also have this problem please reply me.

My dot projector has stopped working it did this recently just right around the time I updated to IOS 14.6. Apple support told me I need to take it to an Apple store and let a tech see it. I’m worried that If i take it, they’ll have to charge me just for looking at it and then to fix it too. I’ve tried resetting, restarting, and anything else that I could do myself. I don’t want to open the phone and damage it. Any suggestions?
