Ever since I updated my phone whenever I type in notes my keyboard is very laggy and slow. It’s never happened before. Any solution??

I just found a fix that worked for me! Supposedly the custom dictionary in iOS/iPadOS 14 isn’t compatible with the one from previous OS’s, and resetting the keyboard dictionary might reduce or eliminate the keyboard lag problem. I was doubtful at first, but I went ahead and reset my dictionary, and INSTANTLY the lag problem disappeared!
To do this, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Keyboard Dictionary.
Another potential fix that might work for some of you is force-restarting your device. The steps for doing this is different depending on which iPhone/iPad you’re using, but it usually involves pressing and holding all the buttons on your device at once until the Apple logo appears. It didn’t work for me, but it might work for someone.
Saaaame. I’m writing basically a novels worth of notes in a doc, and now I can barely get through sentences without losing my thought.

Me too! Laggy keyboard and laggy everything else honestly. It takes me like a full ten seconds to take a screenshot now.

Well the next update (14.1) didn’t address the issue. iPhone X is just updated to 14.1 and still terribly unresponsive in Notes :(
So you had to turn off iCloud backup to fix it? I’m not willing to do that, I need my stuff backed up to the cloud.
I had that problem on XS already in iOS 13. It’s almost impossible to write notes.

I tried the “resetting my dictionary” tactic, but it made it worse in my case. Thankfully it hasn’t leaked to Messages or anything else.
No, not on low power mode; also it happens randomly. Noticed it after the new update ( version 14.0 and 14.1)

Resetting the dictionary made zero difference on an iPad.

Only you can answer that for you. It’s certainly annoying, but every device has its flaws. Until AI starts designing them, they’re going to be as flawed as the humans that make them.
