iOS 14: Wrong Caller ID on Incoming Call

Hi all, upon updating to iOS 14, the incoming call occasionally shows the wrong contact name.

For example, if Mr. A is calling via direct line, it will show Mr. B calling which is my last call via WhatsApp or LINE.

Anyone would be advise whether is this a bug issue? settings? or etc?

Thank You.

iOS 14 has a major bug Every time you would get a call, the Caller ID on the screen (before you answer the call) shows the WRONG caller name. However, on the recent calls list, you can see the real name of the caller.

The wrong called caller ID appears updating to iOS 14. It usually happens if you are using multiple phone calling apps such as Whatsapp, Line, Skype, etc.

Restart your phone

If you have a phone With Face ID:

  • Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power off slider appears.
  • Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off.
  • To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo.

If you have an iPhone with a home button

  • Press and hold the side button until the power off slider appears.
  • Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off.
  • To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.

Update to iOS 14.0.1

Apple launched iOS 14.0.1 few days after the launch of iOS 14. Follow the below steps to update your iPhone to the latest version.

  1. Plug your device into power and connect to the Internet with Wi-Fi.
  2. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
  3. Tap Download and Install.

Reset your network settings

If nothing works, please reset your network settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you’ve used before.

  • Go to Settings
  • Tap on General
  • Click on Reset
  • Select Reset Network Settings.

Please let me know in comments if either of the solution worked for you.

Well i thought it had been fixed because it didnt occur for several days..

this morning i had a zoom meeting with my office.. and suddenly 15 minutes after the meeting was over, someone called over the phone line and.... guess what: caller ID was "Zoom" and this person was NOT in the zoom meeting i had before..

this is very strange.

Yes i did a reset, not back to factory setting, but all other setting, i did a hard boot (up-downbuttons etc..)

i cannot reset to factory because i have a rca token app, and as i am in home office i would not be able to connect to my company network without the token.

but you can imagine i am really ****** off..

Hi Luc, in my case, is definitely not a time issue. I have AUTOMATIC TIMEZONE and automatic date/time and I checked my time and is OK up to the second. Also, this morning I had the issue with the last call I did last night... almost 9 hours later. Also, for me, it has been very random. Didn't had the issue for 4 consecutive days and today I experience the problem 4 or 5 times... I hope 14.1 fix the issue.

Honestly guys, if all comments here are just from Apple’s users, what is the point of making such complines? I already sent a feedback to Apple regarding this issue before the last iOS update and I thought they are going to fix it. But I faced the same problem again two days ago.

So, I encourage you to send your feedback to Apple to (https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html), and if someone found a solution for this problem, I/we would really appreciate it if he/she you let us know.

Yes, feedback is good. Contacting Apple support is better. The Apple support app in the App Store is the best way, but at least use the Contact Support link at the top of this page. The reason is every reported issue is logged and tracked, and is used to create a profile of the extent of the problem and identify the cause. What’s known is that it’s related to certain messaging apps such as WhatsApp. Identifying the commonality among instances will help pinpoint the root cause and lead to a solution.
