iOS 14 text notification issues

I am not getting sound notifications on text messages nor is the banner showing up on my locked screen. I have an iPhone 11 and just downloaded the latest iOS 14. Have reset my phone twice now. Please advise. Thank you.

I've also been fighting this notification issue for months on my iPhone 11 Pro. Apple no help. I discovered that turning off bluetooth on my phone fixed the problem (allowed text notifications to sound and appear, whether the phone was locked or not). But with bluetooth on, notifications only sounded & appeared with the phone unlocked. Obviously, I didn't want to leave bluetooth off all the time.

I also came to realize this issue started when I got a new Apple Watch 6 a few months ago. Coincidence? Taking the watch on and off didn't help. And with the watch on, it didn't sound notifications either.

But the posting from StubbornPixie got me thinking about killing the mirror function on the watch for the Messages app. So, iPhone Watch app>Messages>"Custom" "Notifications Off" seems to have SOLVED THE PROBLEM for me. My iPhone 11 Pro now notifies me of incoming text messages with bluetooth on. I realize my watch won't ping with messages until Apple fixes the root problem, but at least I won't be missing message notifications altogether.

Hope this helps others.

I had this issue on my iPhone 11 Pro Max and it carried over when I upgraded to the iPhone 12 Pro Max. I was hopeful the 14.2.1 update would fix it, but it didn’t. At least the 14.2.1 update fixed the MMS problem, but still no notifications. Extremely frustrating and like other users on this forum I’ve had to start checking my phone multiple times an hour to make sure I don’t have new messages and of course have to apologize to people when I don’t return their texts. Has  even acknowledged that this is an issue?

I did the chat support on Sunday and then had a guy called me because it would be easier to troubleshoot. The guy over the phone had me share the screen, ran some tests and had me asking me friends to text so we could replicate the issue and for hiM to make notes on it as well as uploading the log. Supposedly it is a known issue, and he will call me tomorrow to follow up on it. The more people that can spend calling for 20 minutes to share the log and for apple

to get more examples on different phones I think would help. I rather have 20 min to replicate an issue then upload the log than literally months of never knowing when I receive a text

I'm having the same problem since I updated to iOS 14 on my iPhone X.

in particular, all the apps, no one excluded are not receiving push notifications of any sort.

in my settings the notifications are enabled for all the apps and background refresh too.

on Whatsapp for instance, if someone either sends me a text message or call me, I won't get any notifications!!! this is crazy.

I re-installed the app too, didn't help. did all the tricks that you guys suggested about changing the notification style from Temporary to Permanent, didn't help.

APPLE! please fix this!!!!!!!!!!! ffs. this is unacceptable from a company like yours.

I'm running iOS 14.2 at the moment and the issue still persist.

I work with the phone and notifications are like the ABC of a phone. get your **** together and fix this!

I’ve been having problems with my phone getting notifications from one phone number. And it’s with the IOS 14.2 that it’s been having problems with. Like I have to keep exiting out of iMessages just to get the notification to show. And it’s an android phone number as well. But I’ve never had any other problems with other people messaging me through this

Yes, that’s what worked for me. I toggled off messages in cloud AND filter unknown senders. Now I have noticed that it is internment. After trying these yesterday (Thanksgiving), everything worked good all day. Today, it is off and on but only with 1 contact. My next option will be to delete that contact and re-create them in my phone to see if that fixes it permanently.

Another thing I am going to try is unpin (in messages app iOS 14) said contact. Could be an issue with that too. Maybe their texts get automatically opened so to speak when they are pinned (which would be a big of course not by Apple design).

This only happened to me once I pinned a conversation in my messages app. I have reset the phone, unpinned the two conversations, checked all the settings, and anything else that has been suggested here. Most of the time the texts aren't even showing up until I click on that person's text thread - then it says it was send an hour or two ago. So frustrating especially when it is family that you are trying to communicate with. I can't believe this has been going on since September for some of you and it still hasn't been taken care of in the updates.
