iOS 14 text notification issues

Apple support on Twitter got me to try lots of things, one that worked for a few hours but now they say they have no fox but are aware and their engineers are working on it and to keep my phone updated so I guess they’ll be doing a new update soon. I don’t get why they don’t release the old update before this problem happened till they got a fix

I don’t get any notifications for Messages. I’ve troubleshot everything (mute switch, do not disturb, notification settings) to no avail. Really annoying problem

I’m also on the latest version of iOS 14.2.1

I had this problem with my phone since ios 14.2 as well.

it may not work for everyone and it would be a pain if its all contacts

But I had one contact who wouldn’t come through with notifications.

i deleted the text thread, deleted from favorites, and deleted her contact.

I had her text me as if from an unknown number since she wasn’t in my phone.

it worked and had notifications!

was able to readd her to contacts and still works.

I have the same issue and at first I thought it was my phone and then my husband said he was experiencing the same thing then I went online and looked it up and saw him hundreds are having the same issue since the update. Absolutely HATE it, it’s so annoying and frustrating especially when I’m waiting for a reply and I think they haven’t and I go into the conversation and they did reply. I WANT the notifications for text or the notification in general to go back to normal!!!!

I have this issue too. My husband says on his end the message shows as read even though I haven't seen the message. So frustrating! He doesn't have the issue on his phone possibly because its linked to a watch, time to start wearing mine again.

They tried to blame this problem on my cellphone carrier. I sent the senior advisor the link to this discussion and told her to read it. I said to her that it can’t be my carrier as there are many of us and we all can’t be on the same carrier. She said, “oh, you’re right “ there is supposed to be a 14.3 update next week but she is not sure that it is covered in this update. I told her that if it is not fixed soon I will be leaving Apple. I also told her that I want compensation for this issue. It has now spread to my Facebook messenger notifications.

I have an iphone 11 and iOS 14.2 my text notification issues seems to be a little more specific. If I reply to a text and close the app and they reply back immediately I don't get any type notice at all. I spend hours thinking I didn't get a response from them only to open the text and see they replied immediately. This has happened multiple times with different text streams. Any one else had this experience?

I had the same problem since the latest update and did some brainstorming. I went to my messaging settings and switched notifications OFF, and now I actually get notifications. Hope it’ll work for you too!

Are u saying to turn off text notifications from the Notifications option in Settings as in:

Settings > Notifications > Messages > Allow Notifications (slide this dial to OFF)

^Is that what you're saying to do?

Settings--> Messages (no "notify me" there)

or, did you mean

Settings-->Notifications-->Messenger--> Turn off "Allow Notifications"

?

my experience of that is that if i reply on my ipad, and forget to erase the messages, i get either no texts back from the person, or no notifications at all on my phone.. somehow the messages get stuck

I'm relying on having my iPad nearby just to be sure I see or hear the Notifications (that come there consistently) -- then I know to check my phone to see text (and reply there or not)

I've been having this issue for months. It's so frustrating. I'm constantly missing messages because I don't know they're there and they get marked as read. I constantly have to manually check my messages app by opening all my conversations to see if I have messages I haven't replied too. Incredibly annoying.

I have noticed the same no notification issue too. Luckily I have a sound on text messages. But there is a sound bug I have a sound on emails and texts. The bug is if I am touching the screen at the time an email or text comes in the sound comes in at maximum force. Very embarrassing if in a a group setting or starling in any setting. This has happened on my iPhone 12 mini on IOS 14 and my iPhone SE 2020 on IOS 13 Come on Apple, fix the sound system in IOS.

I reset my whole phone and started fresh thinking it would fix the issue. Little did I know I'd have the same issue. Half my text messages don't make a noise or vibrate. The silent switch is off and do not disturb is off as well. I run a business and these missed notifications are costing me money.
