iOS 14 text notification issues

I am not getting sound notifications on text messages nor is the banner showing up on my locked screen. I have an iPhone 11 and just downloaded the latest iOS 14. Have reset my phone twice now. Please advise. Thank you.

Like many on here I had been having many of the same issues, missing all sorts of notifications, not just text since upgrading to ios 14 (first 14.1 then 14.2). Here is what fixed my issue... I went to settings->notifications->messages (for this example) and scrolled down to the options section. For the show previews section the "when unlocked (default)" was selected, meaning only notifications would only appear when the phone is unlocked when is hardly ever the case. I switched it always and the issue is now gone. I had to go into may other apps one by one and toggle this option back to always. Showing previews only when unlocked was 100% not my setting before this update.

What is interesting/****** me off is my wife just upgraded to ios14 and did not have issue. I went into her phone to settings->notifications->messages and for her show previews option was selected as "always (default)". Why on her phone she has options listed as "always (default)" and on my is "always" and "when unlocked (default)" I have no clue.

Thanks Apple!

Hi all, I called and opened a ticket with Apple support yesterday. The lady said the more of us who call the faster it gets escalated to an engineering team. Seems as if they are already aware but it never hurts to bombard them. Just sharing. Call, report the issue, get your case number.

I have been an iPhone user since day 1 back in 2007 and this is definitely ios14 issue. I have found NO solution that has remedied the issue. It’s so intermittent that it’s easy to want to draw correlations when we make one small change and it works for a few. Does it have anything to do with it? Probably not.

I am having this same problem expect mine isn’t for just one person, it’s all text. The only way I know I have a text is if I go in the text app. It’s really aggravating. Doesn’t do it all the time but 90% of the time it does. Wasn’t having this problem until I updated to the latest iOS 14.2.. wish Apple would fix it. It’s very annoying. And my keyboard lags so bad. When I start typing it takes a minute for the words to start popping up!

I also JUST got off the phone with a “senior” advisor at apple and she wanted to troubleshoot with me and I said no I’ve done all the troubleshooting. I spent around 4 hours of that 2 weeks ago. This is not a user error, it’s a bug in the update. So I kept telling her it’s a bug only effecting the messages app, at least for me I said. My fb messenger app gives me ALL of my notifications without error.

after about 5 mins of me telling her I’m just trying to spread the word to get this corrected on apples end she thanked me for the feedback essentially and hung up

I have been having this issue as well. I am missing text notifications intermittently. I’ve ensured my phone is not in DND, the volume is where I always have it and I’ve even changed my text tone incase I’m just used to the noise. This is a bug I hope they fix soon. I have been using other apps to text because I just can’t go without communicating with family members in the hospital with coronavirus! I open my texts to find hours old messages that seem to be marked as read with no notifications and no banner.

This only happened to me once I pinned a conversation in my messages app. I have reset the phone, unpinned the two conversations, checked all the settings, and anything else that has been suggested here. Most of the time the texts aren't even showing up until I click on that person's text thread - then it says it was send an hour or two ago. So frustrating especially when it is family that you are trying to communicate with. I can't believe this has been going on since September for some of you and it still hasn't been taken care of in the updates.

I keep having the same issue. It started with only alerting me to certain text messages, but then completely stopped showing any alert, red bubble or anything. I have to go into the text message itself and learn that I’ve been missing messages. It never shows a “new alert”. This is happening with multiple people messaging me now. The location settings also has me located in North Carolina which I don’t live in and haven’t visited since May.

I’m having the same problem and have spent hours on calls to ATT & Apple, going to actual ATT store and certified Apple repair places—still not fixed. I’m beyond frustrated. I spent $1000+ on this phone that won’t work. Bet if I didn’t pay my Bill, they’d be calling me constantly, but trying to get them to help me is useless! GRRRRRR!

I am having the same issue. My notifictions on messages are not coming through, no sound, no vibrate, no badge, no banner. I have spent hours googling fixes and I have tried them all. All my settings are as normal. This happened the minute my phone updated to iOS14.2. If i want to see a new message I have to constantly check the message, and I am missing important messages. THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING and not good enough apple. It is happening to my partner too. Please help!!
