iOS 14 text notification issues

I am not getting sound notifications on text messages nor is the banner showing up on my locked screen. I have an iPhone 11 and just downloaded the latest iOS 14. Have reset my phone twice now. Please advise. Thank you.

Like many on here I had been having many of the same issues, missing all sorts of notifications, not just text since upgrading to ios 14 (first 14.1 then 14.2). Here is what fixed my issue... I went to settings->notifications->messages (for this example) and scrolled down to the options section. For the show previews section the "when unlocked (default)" was selected, meaning only notifications would only appear when the phone is unlocked when is hardly ever the case. I switched it always and the issue is now gone. I had to go into may other apps one by one and toggle this option back to always. Showing previews only when unlocked was 100% not my setting before this update.

What is interesting/****** me off is my wife just upgraded to ios14 and did not have issue. I went into her phone to settings->notifications->messages and for her show previews option was selected as "always (default)". Why on her phone she has options listed as "always (default)" and on my is "always" and "when unlocked (default)" I have no clue.

Thanks Apple!

I’m having the same exact problem. I won’t get notified when text messages come through. No tone, no banner, no vibrate, nothing...sometimes my phone will randomly light up, but if I don’t have my phone facing up that doesn’t happen. This is extremely frustrating not only for myself but the people I am trying to have a conversation with

I have an 11 Pro Max, with the 14 upgrade I’ve lost hundreds of texts, including photos. And, not I get no notifications on SMS, even my favorites and emergency contacts. Of course, I do get spam notices. :/

This is not a feature, it’s a bug, and a bad one. I have tried every fix I’ve read about. . People should not have to call me to tell me they texted. And if there is no solution it will drive me from Apple.

ios 14 was the worst upgrade ever.

Apple support on Twitter got me to try lots of things, one that worked for a few hours but now they say they have no fox but are aware and their engineers are working on it and to keep my phone updated so I guess they’ll be doing a new update soon. I don’t get why they don’t release the old update before this problem happened till they got a fix

I have the same issue everyone is reporting here. I have the iPhone 8 Plus and am on ios 14.2. Latest update stopped messages from notifying me from several different apps, including Mail, Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Twitter...etc.

I am really unhappy that this change was made in the release. It's extremely inconvenient. Because I'm not getting notifications I have potention employers calling me and asking if I received their email with job descriptions...etc. Because I don't watch email all day non-stop, I can sometimes go hours without checking email and have missed some urgent stuff.

Apple: Please undo this for us, or create a way for people to choose whether they wish to use this part of the update or not.

I called Apple support, and they walked me through a fix which is not related to the problem necessarily.

Go to Settings->Messages->Send & Recieve and Un-check all of your “send & receive” email addresses or other phone numbers except for ONE on the device your using, in my case it was my cell phone number.

That fixed it for me, even though it’s not a long-term or root cause fix as I’d like to get messages from my Apple ID email as well but it’ll do until they fix it in an update.
