iOS 14 text notification issues

Which Apps did you install? Can you write, please. Resetting the settings helped me and I deleted some apps. Don‘t forget to update your apps.

I have not been getting sound notifications for text messages for a number of months. I have tried 20 different suggested fixes and nothing works. I have tried the do not disturb settings, notification settings, volume button settings, my watch settings, and absolutely nothing will fix it. I had a competition in my office to see if anyone could fix it and no one could. I can’t keep using Apple because I cannot go without getting notifications for text messages. I’m about to put out a reward for finding the solution! I have the new iOS 14 and new Apple Watch 6. So frustrating.

This is to Jullemannen. I know this is the way iPhone and Apple Watch are supposed to work but that is not how they have been working since I updated to iOS 14 on my iPhone. I do not receive any alerts on my iPhone and more often none on my Apple Watch also. There is a problem with text alerts since the update. I have a list of other problems I am finding too but haven’t had time to call Apple. Someone said a few days ago that they talked to Apple and they were aware of the text alert problem and were working on fixing it.

Looks like the issue is that the new update silences all texts when the phone is locked. under the do not disturb button in settings there are to options which must be checked which is ridiculous. Can’t turn it off so hopefully they fix it.

Do a hard reboot too. Here is the strange thing. It was working all day yesterday. Now it has stopped again!

Apple needs to fix this. Maybe we need to toggle this setting daily and reboot. Ridiculous!

I wouldn’t do a,full factory restore s i did that didnt work either so it’s their update to iOS 14.0.1 thats bad. I called support they said would be getting back with me today and helping out but still no notifications

I had no notifications on text, phone, reminders, etc. I used this link provided in the Apple documentation & it worked. I get sound and banners but not any red numbers like you would see on text or email. Or even calls.

The guy said updating to 14.2 fixes it but I haven't gotten it yet.

the answer currently without any updates is to add a notification in the shortcut. If you changed apps or added widgets.

It is something apple has done i did some checking and it started with the 14.0.0 update and i checked the same to make sure i did not just have one person muted, but i figure the more people that complain to apple as i have done about not get the “ding” of a message while in a call, the quicker they will revert it back. Its not just message /text , its email, messenger... all notification audible tones that are not present while on a call.

I had a 7.1 update available on my Apple Watch so I did that then did the 7.2 update on my iPhone 11 Pro Max. Will see what happens. Fingers crossed but not expecting the notification problem being resolved based on mixed messages being posted here.

Just started having this issue the day after I updated to 14.2.

I was texting two people and hadn’t gotta a reply in over an hour which was strange so I open my phone, it has no red 1 notification over message app, then I open the app and there was a 2-3 messages from these two people from almost an hour ago.

further, I noticed if my phone is open but I have I’ll get a message notification but only for a split second and it disappears on the unlock screen and still no red one.

I am having the same issue. I did not have it until updating to iOS14 and pretty sure I did not have the issue until it updated to 14.2. It is random. Some times messages from a particular person come through and other times they do not. I have made sure no one is blocked; all notifications are turned on for messages; iMessage is turned on; reset my settings; then reset the entire phone. Nothing has resolved it. I saw on another page where Apple watch could help because it seems to still catch the messages even if they phone does not. This is not the case with me. My apple watch behaves exactly like the phone. I do not know what to do. I have iPhone 11. Thanks for any help! This is ridiculous. I have had this happen to multiple people in my contact list. Sometimes the messages pop up and sometimes they do not.

I went to the Apple store by me and we had to do a full factory reset and set up as a new phone, NOT restore from backup. This worked for around maybe 2 full days and then stopped working again. But now it isn't making notifications when I am in the car (2020 Hyundai Tucson) and my do not disturb is not on.

I also JUST got off the phone with a “senior” advisor at apple and she wanted to troubleshoot with me and I said no I’ve done all the troubleshooting. I spent around 4 hours of that 2 weeks ago. This is not a user error, it’s a bug in the update. So I kept telling her it’s a bug only effecting the messages app, at least for me I said. My fb messenger app gives me ALL of my notifications without error.

after about 5 mins of me telling her I’m just trying to spread the word to get this corrected on apples end she thanked me for the feedback essentially and hung up

I can second having this issue, as well as over 120,000 others who on Twitter liked/commented about their issues with this as well. Attached is a screenshot of said Tweet. Apple needs to get on this bug, and STAT.
