iOS 14 text notification issues

I am not getting sound notifications on text messages nor is the banner showing up on my locked screen. I have an iPhone 11 and just downloaded the latest iOS 14. Have reset my phone twice now. Please advise. Thank you.

Like many on here I had been having many of the same issues, missing all sorts of notifications, not just text since upgrading to ios 14 (first 14.1 then 14.2). Here is what fixed my issue... I went to settings->notifications->messages (for this example) and scrolled down to the options section. For the show previews section the "when unlocked (default)" was selected, meaning only notifications would only appear when the phone is unlocked when is hardly ever the case. I switched it always and the issue is now gone. I had to go into may other apps one by one and toggle this option back to always. Showing previews only when unlocked was 100% not my setting before this update.

What is interesting/****** me off is my wife just upgraded to ios14 and did not have issue. I went into her phone to settings->notifications->messages and for her show previews option was selected as "always (default)". Why on her phone she has options listed as "always (default)" and on my is "always" and "when unlocked (default)" I have no clue.

Thanks Apple!

Well, here's my (ridiculous!) workaround, because I'm needing to get notifiations for some important things right now.

My iPad Mini does get notifications, so I have to keep the iPad nearby so I can receive notifications!!!

So guess, we all need an iPad companion for our iPhones LOL (and tears)

Is anyone else not getting notification of a call and then getting the voicemail days later?

Apple tried to blame my carrier but I showed the senior agent with Apple this link to our discussion and said to her that it couldn’t be my carrier and that they need to take ownership of this issue.

She went back to their engineering department and will call me tomorrow morning. (Hopefully)

my experience of that is that if i reply on my ipad, and forget to erase the messages, i get either no texts back from the person, or no notifications at all on my phone.. somehow the messages get stuck

I'm relying on having my iPad nearby just to be sure I see or hear the Notifications (that come there consistently) -- then I know to check my phone to see text (and reply there or not)

I recently bought an iPad Pro 12.9”, mainly for photography and movie-viewing. It’s main function during the day is alerting me to texts as my phone has given up. Come on Apple, you leaders in Technology! All I’m looking for is a little tune when I get a text ( or even a shrill ringtone like I had on my very first cellphone all those years ago)

It's got more attention now. There is an article on The Verge and it also references this long thread of ours in this forum.

One user in the Facebook comments listed a tedious work-around that has been working for him [paraphrased below]

"Before you leave your text messaging chat window, always back out to the main chat window so that you don't leave the chat window open on any one particular contact. It should be left open in the main chat window that lists all of your text messaging conversations."

Having to remember to do this is on the same level of killing the chat window after every text (the other work-around that has worked) but at least this bug is getting more and more widespread attention. Link to the article is below.

I am using iPhone 8 plus with iOS 14.2. I don’t get notifications for whatsapp calls and messages. For whatsapp messages i atleast get notified after some time but i am missing whatsapp calls altogether. I checked all notification settings in my iPhone and whatsapp and everything is correct. I did a complete fresh reset of the iPhone 2 times but still same issue. I am facing this from iOS 13. I don’t know what else to do. Just fedup missing a basic whatsapp call. What is the use of having advanced technology chip, camera and **** when this iPhone doesn’t let me know when a call comes

Thought it was just me with the SMS until today. I move my old SIM into my 12 and thought that had something to do with it. Had the carrier replace my SIM last week, and that seemed to work for a couple days.

Now I see your post. Though I never linked the two until today, I am also getting intermittent WhatsApp messages too.

I've been having this issue for months. It's so frustrating. I'm constantly missing messages because I don't know they're there and they get marked as read. I constantly have to manually check my messages app by opening all my conversations to see if I have messages I haven't replied too. Incredibly annoying.
