I am not getting sound notifications on text messages nor is the banner showing up on my locked screen. I have an iPhone 11 and just downloaded the latest iOS 14. Have reset my phone twice now. Please advise. Thank you.

I've also been fighting this notification issue for months on my iPhone 11 Pro. Apple no help. I discovered that turning off bluetooth on my phone fixed the problem (allowed text notifications to sound and appear, whether the phone was locked or not). But with bluetooth on, notifications only sounded & appeared with the phone unlocked. Obviously, I didn't want to leave bluetooth off all the time.
I also came to realize this issue started when I got a new Apple Watch 6 a few months ago. Coincidence? Taking the watch on and off didn't help. And with the watch on, it didn't sound notifications either.
But the posting from StubbornPixie got me thinking about killing the mirror function on the watch for the Messages app. So, iPhone Watch app>Messages>"Custom" "Notifications Off" seems to have SOLVED THE PROBLEM for me. My iPhone 11 Pro now notifies me of incoming text messages with bluetooth on. I realize my watch won't ping with messages until Apple fixes the root problem, but at least I won't be missing message notifications altogether.

This works on iPhone 8 Plus.........toggle on n off notifications and restart or clear WhatsApp catches and restart or update to iOS 14.4.1

Hm seems my Hide Alerts was on as well, switched it off and voila notification is back.
EDIT: Only worked once. Checked Hide Alert setting and still off. Not received a notification since.
I suspect this has something to do with connected Bluetooth devices intercepting notifications, but it is a complex problem with probably multiple factors.

No, the latest update did not do that. The Watch/iPhone has worked that way since the 1st Generation Watch was released and it is designed to do that.
Have you notified Apple about the issue? And if it worked for a few days and stopped today what changed?
Yes. It started in the ios 14 update. The fix required must come from apple in a corrected code!
I have iPhone 11 Pro Max and the problem started after I updated to iOS 14. I just updated to iOS 14.0.1 thinking it would fix the problem but it isn't. I am also not notified on my Lock screen that I received a text so I keep missing important texts. Very frustrating.
the feedback form isn’t even updated to include the latest iOS in the drop down selection...
this is very frustrating and seems like an odd intentional update - why would I not want a notification about a text while I’m on the phone?
I also noticed that my normal text message vibration notification is much softer than it was in the previous iOS version so I’m even missing texts while my phone is idle. I don’t see them until I pick up my phone. Terrible.
After iOS 14 update, all my notifications, especially badges, but banners and all as well, have not been working anymore. Whatsapp, wechat, telegram, spark, basically i only see messages when i open those apps. As if the apps were not working in the background and notifications were somehow not pushed. It is extremely annoying as I m missing lots of important messages now.
The 14.01 update didn't help at all.

I am not getting any push notifications for my WhatsApp and telegram app after updating iOS14, all my notification settings are on. I even did a reset all settings, reset network settings but it still doesn’t work! Thinking that iOS14.0.1 will solve the issue but it is still not working!
Well I did the reset as someone did and said it fixed the problem. It did not fix it for me and I am now wasting time putting everything back like it was was before. Still no alert when I receive a text.
Same here as many. No text alerts while in active calls. I deleted all of my conversations after reading one response that said this fixed it, but no such luck for me. Hard to believe that this isn't a bug and was done intentionally. No way, lol.
I have the same issues I reset all settings and didnt work. I reset setting and contents and same problem. I talked to apple they told me to restore my phone using itunes because it would refresh the software and set it up as new without transfering any app, I was thinking it would work but it didnt. Went to apple store and they wanted to do the same but ended up telling me even if they restore the phone it might not work. Its a software issue, please apple get this problem fixed I really need to get notifications while im on a call.
I don’t like the idea that I’m not receiving notifications while on the phone. Very frustrating when having a sick kid and miss their text messages etc. Even scarier during a pandemic.
