iOS 14 text notification issues

I have recently update my phone (11 pro max) to the IOS 14.2 software and since this update I will randomly receive text notifications. Other times, I will not know I have a new message unless I go into the message app. There is no sound notification, no banner notification, nothing on my lock screen, not even a red number on the message app; nothing to indicate I got a new text. I have tried all the tips and tricks that have been suggested to fix this and nothing has worked I am still having this issue. It is very, very annoying.

Same same. At first I thought I was crazy and was thinking “am I really this absent minded?” But seeing all of these other messages is validating me lol. It seems like it picks and chooses when it wants to send a notification or not. It’s hardly ever on the Lock Screen, or if it is, it disappears the next time I turn it on. I also have a new iPhone 11 with iOS 14.2. I hate this... why would Apple get rid of this? Getting texts and being notified of them is literally the point of having a cell phone lol. Stupid. Please change this.

I am having this same issue. I have the new iphone 12 pro max and the watch 6. Everything is up to date as of today. I get no sound or banner on the locked screen. My phone is not on silent and the volume is turned up. I have had this issue for quite some time.

Thousands of people are having an issue with their notifications not working after installing iOS 14 and you come up here and mention “turn it on”? How about you use some common sense.....WE GOT A FIX turn it on in notification

So now not only does my loudspeaker microphone not work on a brand new iPhone 12 pro, but I also don’t receive any notifications on iOS 14.2. This iPhone and software is terrible apple need to step up their game before I say enough is enough

Same here! So aggravating! Why is this an issue?! I'm losing serious trust in Apple. It seems also they will fix a bug in one version, come out with a new version that addresses something else but then has the same old bug in it from a version or two prior. Come on Apple! Get your act together!!!

I've got this same issue. I only upgraded to iOS 14.2 recently, and now I'm not receiving notifications for any apps properly.

It worries me that this was first reported in September and now it's mid-November and there's still no fix from Apple. I wonder if it will ever get resolved.

I’m having the same issue. No text notifications when I’m on the phone. I’m a realtor and I’m not replying in a timely fashion because I’m not getting a alert if I’m on the phone. Did anyone find a solution??

I’m piggybacking off of someone else’s response to this post. I also have the 11 Pro Max and ever since iOS 14.0.0 I have had issues with notification tones not playing when text messages are received. There have been a few other things that have popped up here and there but they are so infrequent that I can’t recall what they are. The text message notification is by far the most prevalent issue I’m seeing right now.

thank you everyone for the suggestions. Unfortunately, 14.2.1 did not fix the issue for me. I even had Apple support on the line and screen sharing with me while we downloaded it. they had me fully factory reset from my MacBook (which is also on the latest iOS). That did nothing. I don’t have any Apple Watch. They also had me unpair all my Bluetooth devices. Didn’t work. They are doing an RTA but I really don’t know what is going to come of it.

they also said that (bc I bought my phone through Verizon) they couldn’t give me a new one but they could have me send my phone into them for repair, they would send me a temporary phone, and place a hold on my bank account for $1400 during the repair LOLLLL. I laughed so hard. Told them I work in tech and know the difference between a hardware and a software issue. Not getting a new device. this one is 1 week old. FIX THE SOFTWARE PLEASE!

I know that beta is beta. But this problem exists from ios 14 and they heve done nothing with it, so with every update (even if it's beta) I'm hoping that this problem will be solved. Sometimes I get notifications on locked screen, but only sometimes. In most cases no notification, no banner, no nothing. Very, very annoying.

I'm having this issue also on my iPhone 11 Pro, and my wife has it too on her 11 Pro Max. Please fix this Apple!

Also...still have problems with Bluetooth, and the phone connecting to my truck...fix it Apple...please!!!

Same! It’s so frustrating. I really thought it was just my phone. Of course all this would happen once they release a new phone .. ugh!!! I am not spending another $1,100! Please fix this stupid bug.. I missed so many important texts..

This is about the 20th “solution” I’ve tried. It worked for one text, then text notifications failed again I’ve been through all known remedies with Apple support. Surely it is time now for a]Apple to acknowledge that this is a real problem and not just a case of a few thousand people not setting their phones correctly.

Well I tried the toggling the Messages iCloud setting to the OFF position. No joy. It did not work for me. I picked up my phone to text my best friend that I had just finished watching The Queen's Gambit and realized a text from an hour ago was sitting in her chat window and yet I never received an audible, vibration or banner/icon alert. My iPhone 12 Pro Max running 14.2.1 had been by my side the entire time I was watching the series.

The text alert bug remains.
