iOS 14 text notification issues

I am not getting sound notifications on text messages nor is the banner showing up on my locked screen. I have an iPhone 11 and just downloaded the latest iOS 14. Have reset my phone twice now. Please advise. Thank you.

I've also been fighting this notification issue for months on my iPhone 11 Pro. Apple no help. I discovered that turning off bluetooth on my phone fixed the problem (allowed text notifications to sound and appear, whether the phone was locked or not). But with bluetooth on, notifications only sounded & appeared with the phone unlocked. Obviously, I didn't want to leave bluetooth off all the time.

I also came to realize this issue started when I got a new Apple Watch 6 a few months ago. Coincidence? Taking the watch on and off didn't help. And with the watch on, it didn't sound notifications either.

But the posting from StubbornPixie got me thinking about killing the mirror function on the watch for the Messages app. So, iPhone Watch app>Messages>"Custom" "Notifications Off" seems to have SOLVED THE PROBLEM for me. My iPhone 11 Pro now notifies me of incoming text messages with bluetooth on. I realize my watch won't ping with messages until Apple fixes the root problem, but at least I won't be missing message notifications altogether.

Hope this helps others.

I needed to have access to the internet while away from our home WiFi. I changed the settings for Gmail, Chrome, and Safari to have cellular access. I attempted to use the internet and found I had no access to Gmail, Chrome, and Safari, so I checked the settings. They were off. For a few more times, I tried to change the settings - to no avail. After I returned home to our personal WiFi, I tried to change the settings, but I had the same results. Anyone else have this problem? I've not seen anyone else mention this issue.

I am having this same problem expect mine isn’t for just one person, it’s all text. The only way I know I have a text is if I go in the text app. It’s really aggravating. Doesn’t do it all the time but 90% of the time it does. Wasn’t having this problem until I updated to the latest iOS 14.2.. wish Apple would fix it. It’s very annoying. And my keyboard lags so bad. When I start typing it takes a minute for the words to start popping up!

I have been having this issue as well. I am missing text notifications intermittently. I’ve ensured my phone is not in DND, the volume is where I always have it and I’ve even changed my text tone incase I’m just used to the noise. This is a bug I hope they fix soon. I have been using other apps to text because I just can’t go without communicating with family members in the hospital with coronavirus! I open my texts to find hours old messages that seem to be marked as read with no notifications and no banner.

I keep having the same issue. It started with only alerting me to certain text messages, but then completely stopped showing any alert, red bubble or anything. I have to go into the text message itself and learn that I’ve been missing messages. It never shows a “new alert”. This is happening with multiple people messaging me now. The location settings also has me located in North Carolina which I don’t live in and haven’t visited since May.

I’m having the same problem and have spent hours on calls to ATT & Apple, going to actual ATT store and certified Apple repair places—still not fixed. I’m beyond frustrated. I spent $1000+ on this phone that won’t work. Bet if I didn’t pay my Bill, they’d be calling me constantly, but trying to get them to help me is useless! GRRRRRR!

I am having the same issue. My notifictions on messages are not coming through, no sound, no vibrate, no badge, no banner. I have spent hours googling fixes and I have tried them all. All my settings are as normal. This happened the minute my phone updated to iOS14.2. If i want to see a new message I have to constantly check the message, and I am missing important messages. THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING and not good enough apple. It is happening to my partner too. Please help!!

Curious as to whether or not anyone has had any resolution to this issue?

Just saw yesterday someone post about having notification issues, and am currently realizing I’m also having notification issues :/

Currently running iOS 14.2 on my iPhone 11, and I don’t get any text notifications. No banners, no sounds, barely any push notifications.

Haven’t tried a hard reset or anything, but I kind of assumed it was just my phone being a butt at first, and now I’m wondering if it’s still the iOS update?
